Evan Fairchild never left Melody Monroe's side. Melody didn't bother schmoozing with anyone—she didn't even offer a toast to Director Wallace, who had always been so good to her.
"Melody Monroe is at the peak of her life. With a man like Evan Fairchild wrapped around her finger, why would she need to network?" Cheryl Rhodes said, her words slurring slightly from the alcohol.
Every word she spoke dripped with sour jealousy.
"Evan Fairchild isn't that kind of person, is he? How could he be so bewitched by Melody Monroe?"
"Has Melody Monroe cleared her name?"
"I haven't seen her post anything. The comments under her social media posts have all been scrubbed."
"She doesn't have time to worry about that now. Latching onto a guy like Evan Fairchild solves all her problems."
"Does Evan Fairchild really not care that Melody Monroe has a love child?"
"Look at him. Does he look like he cares?"
