Keith Coleman had returned to Jansburg early.
Rose Shaw went to pick him up from the airport.
When Rose Shaw saw Keith Coleman emerge from the terminal, she walked over, carrying an insulated food container.
Keith Coleman immediately took off his scarf and wrapped it around Rose Shaw's neck.
Rose Shaw didn't reject the intimate gesture. She felt she was starting to rely on Keith Coleman. 'It's not about romance,' she thought, 'but being with him makes me feel so relaxed and secure.'
"What's this?" Keith Coleman asked, looking at the container in Rose Shaw's hands.
"Didn't you say you were in such a hurry you didn't even have time to eat before your flight? I made some porridge. It's still hot. You can eat it in the car to tide you over."
"Doesn't this give you the feeling of a loving couple?" Keith Coleman said, putting special emphasis on the words "loving couple."
