First she took off the brown wig she had on allowing her long black hair cascade down her back. Then she went ahead to take off the bushy eyebrows she had on and black contact lenses.
Walking to one of the cupboards in the bathroom she took out a little bottle and cotton wool and walked back towards the sink.
Opening the cap of the bottle she poured some on the wool and went ahead to clean her face, her freckles coming right off revealing clear smooth skin. Then she peeled of some skin from the sides of her nose.
Turning on the tap, she splashed some water on her face and finally looked at herself in the mirror and was greeted with two blood red eyes staring right back at her. The contrast between her previous appearance and the person in the mirror was so clear and you wouldn't be able to find any relationship between the two.
With her phoenix shapes eyes, thin eye brows, a small pointed nose, lips that looked so unbelievably soft, she looked like she had just walked out of a painting. If Wei Xinyi saw her, she'd run away in tears because her appearance she thought so highly of wouldn't hold a candle to Su Chenxing's.
Her original hair colour wasn't black instead it was the same colour as her eyes but she had to leave the dye on to avoid revealing her identity.
Red hair, red eyes, they were not normal traits and incredibly rare as a result of unique genes, causing her to wonder what her origins were.
At 5 she was said to have lost her memories due to an unfortunate event that might have occurred.
She reached for the chain around her neck, holding it tight, she felt the initials on the locket at the center "Chenxing" embedded into it. She let out a sigh her expression turning slightly sad with a mix of frustration.
She'd lost her memories at the age of five after a "traumatic event" the doctors speculated she had gone through. The chain was the only clue to who she was.
She grew up taking pills because even tho she'd forgotten whatever bad thing had happened to her, some blurry images/scenes would come to hunt her especially at night, she'd start having episodes accompanied with serious headaches, screaming and crying, the want to destroy something or injure herself, praying for whatever was hunting her to go away.
Though she experienced this, there was no progress when it came to recovering her memories.
Her foster parents had found her badly injured and tried to investigate the cause of her pains but their efforts were a waste as nothing good came out of the investigation as it seemed whoever was the cause of her ill-fate had covered their tracks.
Which meant whoever was involved was very powerful and from a very high background, hence they chose not to pursue it and decided to keep her safe, for all they knew, the person probably wanted her dead.
Su Chenxing became withdrawn, always alone, speaking to her foster brother and parents only, no one else.
Overtime she began to have interests in books and they became her companion. Her foster father worked for the army and was a high ranking officer so she stayed with him there.
The Library was her favorite place, her safe haven. She'd stay there for hours, day , weeks, months doing nothing but reading, learning history, art of war, novels, science and so many more. She didn't skip her meals though and took her bath when it was time to.
It was after this her foster parents realized just how unique she was, doctors said it had something to do with her genes but they still found it incredible. At the age of 7 she had mastered all the books in the library even books scholars would have a hard time understanding, but she had done it just like that in a span of two years and she wanted more books, which they made sure to provide for her.
Hence she was much too mature for her age, very responsible, tho not bad, she'd lost the shine of being a child, hell she didn't know how a child was meant to act. She was scared of meeting people as her trauma had made her feel insecure and her foster parents thought it'd probably be okay, she'd have less episodes.
All that changed after she made her first friend, Zhao Haoran. He'd come to the army with his father, a colleague of Su Chenxing's foster father.
She remembered she'd been walking hand in hand with her father, her book in her right hand when the suddenly came to a halt.
She looked up from the book to see what was happening and saw a tall man smiling, hand stretched towards her father for a friendly handshake. She'd seen him a couple of times so she was okay seeing him but never spoke to him.
She was going to continue reading but she felt a pair of eyes on her and looked at who the person was, it was a boy. Seeing a new face, she let go of her father's hand and quickly moved to stand behind him, clutching his trousers.
The boy was taller than her but appeared to be at least two years older than her. He had a confused expression on his face, wondering the reason for her frightened look. 'Was he scary?' he thought as he scratched his head,
'But that's impossible, I'm only slightly older than her, plus I'm a handsome kid , girls are supposed to love me, hmph', then he looked at her again 'she's cute tho' and then he started planning on how the make her like him.
Afterwards Su Chenxing was left alone as her father went to handle issues at the office. Meanwhile Zhao Haoran stalked her the entire day making sure to keep a distance but Su Chenxing was still uncomfortable but she didn't run away.
Su Chenxing was sitting under a large apple tree reading yet another book... How was he going to make her drop her guard around him?
