"My hair isn't falling out anymore."
Evelyn Ford raised an eyebrow. "My healing hands work wonders."
Quincy nodded perfunctorily. "Yes, you're the best. You're Hippocrates reborn."
Having eaten and drunk their fill, Quincy grabbed a burlap sack and dragged back all the wild vegetables they had just dug up. The moon was already out, a last quarter moon that wasn't very bright. But with the fireflies, the silent, dark night gained a touch of life, and a couple of cicada chirps echoed in the distance. Wendy and Evelyn Ford grabbed a flashlight, taking Annie and Zoe to catch cicadas.
"It's not even fully summer yet, but there are already cicadas."
