Chapter 290 - [Error_Chapter_Name_Corroded]

There is a lull in the battlefield.

A soldier watched as the clouds began to darkened and the first acrid rain begun to swept in.

The raindrops fell on human and Zerg alike.

Perhaps washing their sins? Or a event for something more worse? Or the god emperor weeping for his soldiers? None would even know...

It fell indiscriminately, whether it was the power armor of the Dominion, the Tanks of the Imperium or the Astartes ceramite armor.

The rain washed some of the soot that linger on the armor and weapons. But never their hatred...

Alexander stand beside Raynor as they overlook upon the expansive trenchlines that swept across the battlefield. In his hands held dog tags of his men that he personally cremated.

None of the biomass would feed the overgrowing masses of Zerg ...

This was not just a simple battlefield, but a deciding fate of this galaxy.

The raindrops dripped from the tags that he held firmly.

The rain didn't turn the land they stood on, into mud, but simply loosen the soil.

A Dominion Medivac arrived and landed near their position.

General Warfield walked down with the cargo. Behind him several Dominion Marines carried a metal container.

Raynor approached Warfield.

"How's the arm?" Raynor asked as he spoke to the now healed general.

The man smiled as his injured arm turned into a cannon.

"Had my Damm medics to lop it off. A gun is much more better, given our current situation at hand."

"So... This must be the key to end this conflict..." Raynor spoke as he gaze upon the containter with mixed feeling.

The container opened and the now assemble xenos artifact floated eerily with blue hues emanating from it.

"The Xel'Naga artifact's been assembled. I hope to God it does what we think it does." Raynor gaze at the machine more deeply

"Damn straight. Bettin' our asses on some alien piece of crap don't sit right with me." Tychus was skeptical of this... Artifact.

"I hear ya, Tychus. But if I was bankin' everything on that I'd be quit already. 'Cause here we are in the mouth of hell, 'an we made it this far by leanin' on each other." Raynor spoke.

"Whether it's blind luck or damn-fool courage in all my years, I've never seen anything like what you jokers have pulled off." Warfield smirked.

"That thing may be the key to stopping the Queen of Blades - but it's our sweat and blood that'll make it happen." Raynor answer back.

A trooper activated the public address so Raynor's speech can be heard all over the base, several reporters turned their recorders at the man before them.

"After everything we've been through, past all the fire and fury... the one thing I know, is what we can count on each other to get the job done. Or die trying, if that's what it takes."

The rain stopped and part of the sky became clear again... Raynor look at the name tags of his fallen men.

" ...because some things are just worth fighting for." He gaze at the rising sunrise.

A fighter wing flew past the battlelines.

Leaving for the final act of this assault.

In the location that was designated to place the Artifact. It was a mountain that overlooked the Zerg hive clusters.

From east to west is filled with Zerg that any macronocular would burst into flame from assessing the amount.

From the south was a giant rift that is filled with lava, created by the destruction of the nydus network, the only place reinforcements from the defence point, if the teleporter beacons were destroyed.

Above them the skies is heavily contested.

Zerg outnumbered the human fleets.

But... Hope is there.

The mountain was filled with trenches and armoured defenses that defend the one thing that would destroy the queen of blades.

Artillery nest is placed around the artifact that provided a vantage point to any sector that is overrun.

Baneblades patrolling by squads of ten.

Any remaining mech was tasked to defend.

And most of the defensive areas is based on a granite cliff. And a molten lava river that flowed below the site.

Even the skies is held by a joint fleet of Imperial Acclamators and Dominion Battlecruisers to provide orbital bombardment and fire support.

The Necrons and the Eldar that Alexander requested them to stay put as this was a human matter. And they can kill any Zerg infiltrating their controlled space.

As Alexander convened with the commanders of their respective section. A Warning was detected.

++Psionic form detected, Class 12++

It was a cue for that special someone that had a high psychic power in this galaxy...

Alexander and Raynor watched as a woman walked out from the biggest hive and revealed herself to the world. She walked with grace as the Zerg moved aside to let the invaders see her true form.

Wings of bones etched from her back as a Zerg infested bodysuit clad her body as if a mockery of a angel of ancient text.

"What a pity, Jim... You just can't leave when I told you to..." Kerrigan spoke in Raynor mind..

"Ya know I'm a stubborn guy." Raynor snarked.

"You will die here .. like the rest of your soldiers." Kerrigan glance at Alexander as she headed back inside.

"What? Not a witty remarks for me?" Alexander telepathic message spoke.

She gritted her teeth as the moment she entered the hive... The Swarm attack.

The land tremor was unlike anyone ever seen.

As if the planet cried out in madness as it birth horror beyond human comprehension.

Unending amount of xenos poured into the battlefield.

The Zerg swarmed as it made a mad dash towards the artifact energy signature.

And they met with a wall of laser and explosions.

Alexander didn't used this Battlefield to test prototype or experiments, this require a more extensive weaponry.

Weapons from the Dark ages from a grim galaxy now activated to assist the battle.

Drop pods containing Men of Iron rained upon the peripheral surroundings.

Unleashing carnage and destruction.

Flesh eating Nano machines blanketed the skies and their target was the swarms cluster.

Alexander stepped out and fought with the machines he summoned.

His halo now appeared before all to see.

The Dominion that fought alongside him having witness the horors that Alexander released on this planet, began to fear him.

He was now holding a flaming sword and a halo was floating above his head.

To a mortal perspective...

What happened if the leader of another Empire, that fought alongside you in a planet that is literally hell, is a god in human flesh?

When you see the dead rose from the ashes and the angels materialized before their eyes... And a aura emitted from him was more divine than their guns...

Many instinctively fear him on a genetic level that no amount of brainwashing indoctrination could hide the innate fear of the soul.

In a short time that fear disappeared... And morale soared as they realize that there is a godlike being that is fighting for humanity.

Kerrigan found that her minions was wasteful, and she now decided to exit her throne and fight on the frontlines.

She knew that the moment that artifact activated fully. Her master plans for the future is destroyed.

She gritted her teeth as she decided to attack the one of the major contributor of the war.

Alexander Solair.

As she believes if he falls, the imperium that made the bulk of the army that defy her would fall into chaos.

Her speed was unheard of, as she targeted a sector of the battlefield that's closest to his location, as she braved a countless lasers aimed at her general direction. A Triangular ship that floated above that trenchlines blasted her with a force of a nuke.

Still she lived. Only it made her angrier.

She snarled as she used her psychic powers to crash the ship that is hounding her with their artillery.

Her psychic force was too much to bear as the antigravity imbedded in the ship groaned with the sheer force that the hull of the ship groan under the pressure, mere moments before plunging into the ground below, the Captain of that ship gave a ramming order.

They knew they were going to die, might as well take the queen of blades with them.

700 souls knew this and they smiled without fear.

The ship thrusters glowed with blueish light as it used her psychic powers to make their ship as a Gravity hammer.

Her eyes wide as the ship she tried to crash ended up being a battering ram and made her smashed into the walls of her palace hive.

Even so... The Zerg biology that infested her kept her alive as it forcibly regenerate her as she now lunged at the now empty lines and ended up in a minefield filled with nuclear bombs countless mushrooms cloud bloomed in the air as she reached to where Alexander is...

He walked in the no man zone with a blade. Just a few more minutes the artifact

He sense her presence as her clawed hands reached before his neck.

His blade met her hand. Psychic tremors burst out as the planet groaned as it tried to hold against the two powerhouses in battle.

"You...." She snarled, she glance at the hand where his heart once stood.

Sparks flying as her hand met his blade.

"I'm not the same man that you defeated me during the Brood wars, Queen of blades..." He spoke calmly.

The barrage of claws and kicks was endless.

Alexander noticed that before...

Had she didn't give him time to recuperate while he was wounded, he would have struggled, now her attacks were more... Feral.

He dodge the stab towards his heart as he headbash her that sent her several steps away.

"Where is that wench that bled a man?" Alexander spoke. His blade raised as he about to lopped her neck. He had some doubts if he should keep this... Variable alive.

"Hmmm.... Gotcha." Her neutral face turn into a sinister smile as she used her psychic mind to pierced his.

The queen of blades smirked.

One of her plans was somewhat successful...

If she can't kill him... Might as well mentally corrode him from within and turn him into a vessel of the legacy of the swarm.

But what she later faced was a nightmare.

In the mental state of the man that ruined her plans.

She found herself in a Battlefield in some desolate land..

Above her was akin to a grayish sun, bleeding red in the background.

Broken statues of a man in great stature with locks of hair coveted his face and some parts were fragmented

"Welcome.. it's been a long time... Since someone tried to pierced my mind..."

The voice was chilling. Even for her.

She tried to leave. But she found herself unable to leave.

Several explosions occured that she found herself in.

She used her powers to removed the cloud of shrapnel, dust and found herself facing herself in a empty throne room.

She took note of everything and found that it was as if it was burnt to the ground.

"Hmm... How quaint... You pretending to be a king?" She spoke.

"No..." The voice spoke.

"Never a king... I am loyal to the one above..."

She unleash a psychic blast at the location of the voice and found that it was a void.

As she turned to the throne room she found a medieval knight in golden plate armor.

It simply sat on the burnt throne as it stared at her.

She shudder as she felt her instinct is screaming at her to leave, far away from the figure before her.

"What...are you?"

"I been wondering that myself... But since you tried to forced your way in my mind..." The knight whisper as black goo began to spout from every orifices of his armor

"May you never leave."

The queen of blades found that there is something more horrible dwell in his mind... No... His soul.

She watched as something in her felt a primordial horror as that knight that she mocked is something that hold something in... More worse.

If she was a depiction of bastardation of humanity angels... He was the definition of a monstrosity.

She tried to attack with her mind, but she felt like she was poking something more ancient than her and felt more insignificant....

She found strings attached on the abomination before her.

And she tried to follow the strings and found something horrifying awaited her.

It led up to the sun she just saw and found a enormous skeletal giant wearing golden armor simply holding his chains while hiding behind the greyish sun.

The hollow eyes sockets simply stared at her.

Awaiting for her judgement.

"Now... Then let's have a performance shall we?" A tired voice gurgle with bouts of insanity and malice as she turned towards Alexander.

He is now encased in darkness itself.

The golden flaming sword that she saw earlier now emitted a crimson hue.

She saw what he truly is...

A monster.

He disappeared from the throne and about to stab her, her instinct barely managed to block before being ragdoll across the destroyed room. Before she get her bearings.

She found herself in a endless ocean filled with blood. Aliens and humans alike, filled to the brim.

"You have more blood on your hands..." She snarled towards the figure that simply walked on the water, uncaring of the corpses that laid beneath his feet.

"Everything... I've done... it's for the imperium... And humanity." He spoke.

His blade glowed dimmer as it being replaced with even more darker hue.

"You... should never come here." He growled.

His eyes that was in a myriad of colors now turned black... Black as the void of space itself.

"You pay the price, for my people..." He lunged at her with such speed that she unable to even react. One of her hand flung away from her as she gasped in pain.

She provoked the devil himself.

And the ocean boiled to live as the dead rose to assist him.

For the first time since she was infested... She took a step back.

While in the real world the coalition is fighting for their lives, Alexander and Kerrigan fought, it caused the Zerg to redirect their avenue to attack making their lives a lot easier.

Seconds ticked down as the swarm began to overwhelmed the defensive.

A psychic explosion occured from where the two fought, as they saw Alexander punched Queen of Blade so hard that her body is flung back to her capital hive.

Many cheered.

Raynor gritted his teeth as the last power course through the artifact.

"Hopefully... This nightmare comes to a end." Raynor spoke to Tychus.

The xelnaga artifact exploded win a huge subsonic wave and swept across the battlefield.

The Zerg in the immediate surroundings died as their essence, their genetical makeup was destroyed.

Even the hives and creep died by the shockwaves emitted by the Xelnaga artifact.

Everyone tried to venture forth and claim the head of the woman that tried to destroy the galaxy.

But they were halted by the majority of the Imperium forces.

"Our prize to kill." Was their said

None could disagree as the bulk of the invasion force is purely Imperium and if they have second thought, they bound to have their section of space be conquer and be assimilated.

Raynor and Alexander took their trusted men as they venture forth.

The hive where Kerrigan founded as her capital laid into silence, none of the words spoke between them as they ventured deeper into the hive.

"Sir... We found the target." A soldier reported to them.

Raynor rushed forwards as he found Kerrigan naked on the floor, the artifact cleansed the creep that covered her body.

"Jim...?" She weakly responded.

She glance at Alexander that simply stood beside Kerrigan.

A communication blared in Alexander ear piece.

"My Lord, We have eyes on her... Waiting on our orders sir" the voice spoke.

Alexander face was covered in the darkness and his mismatched eyes glowed in the dark, he hold her life in her hands.

For a brief moment he balance the pro and cons of keeping her alive.... There are Imperial Assassins waiting in the shadows.

"Belay that order, your services needed elsewhere." He ordered them to stand down.

They nodded as they disappeared.

"Now then...what should I do with you..." Alexander shadow towered before the couple.

For a brief hour...

Alexander walked out of the hive world, and in his hand held a clothed Queen of blades spine wing that he managed to get from the brood war as a souvenir .

"Behold! The Queen of Bitches is dead! Our nightmare is over!" He held the queen of blades wings to show the galaxy that she died. Recording and pict were shown across every sector.

Many cheered as they celebrated...

But celebration didn't last long.

Hundreds of Dominion ships that didn't followed Valerian arrived at the system and it was a tense standoff.

The Imperium ships were battered by the Zerg, but their sturdy hull still held true as their cannons aimed at the intruders.

Many of the Dominion captain were tasked to kill Kerrigan, Raynor and Alexander. But seeing ships that is bigger and heavily armored than them is more than enough to deter the forces that carried out their task.

Valerian remaining fleet managed to escape to Umojans.

And they carried a special cargo.

Valerian watched from the screen as he saw the important cargo before him.

Alexander was tending to his wounds using a medkit.

And Sarah Kerrigan and Raynor was in a room.

Hopefully... He hoped that Alexander fleets and armies would deter his father.

And buy enough time to perhaps unlocked the secrets of the what Kerrigan kept...

But little did he know, that aboard his ship, was a spy that was planted by his father.

The spy watched as his master son joined hands with the enemies his master made.

But for now...

It's not a opportune time to sell the information.

As of this moment, the pieces come into place.

The galaxy tempted Alexander and it blink at him.

(A/n): sorry late, because my financial situation gotten so worse that I wonder if I could even dig myself out from.

I think 3rd week of December I am out of the hospital.

Seemed like my body was more messed up.

I am practically near broke.

The hospital bills were scary as fuck.

Sometimes I do wonder if I am truly a slave or someone that is wanting to be free from poverty.
