Although she was already rejoicing inside, Zenesha still had to maintain her posture and gentle expressions as she always had. Of course, with some benevolence and compassion from the monarch, she still needed to act like the Wolf Queen would deal with the situation.
Zenesha let out a gentle sigh, and there was also some sympathy with it; she let out her acting skills.
"It's unfortunate. Carina may be a human sorcerer, but... she's still a good child." She spoke in such gentleness that one could mistake her for a saint even if she didn't really mean it at all. It was enough that the listener felt her sincerity.
For everyone, these words were only normal to come from her, the ever-compassionate Wolf Queen. Hearing her, Erilia and those attendants who heard what she said turned angrier and felt bad even more for their queen.
Her Majesty was so kind and gentle that she wasn't even mad at the actions of those human sorcerers. How dare they try and harm their queen?
It was all on their minds. Zenesha could see some of their expressions in the mirror. It was not hard for her to read her thoughts hidden in their innocent expressions. Unlike Prime, for whom Zenesha couldn't fathom and was unable to read the mind, these attendants made it truly easy for her to manipulate the thoughts.
The corner of her lips quirked up slightly, and her eyes shimmered with amusement. However, she quickly returned to her gentle expression. While she knew that things were going well now, this was really the start. There was no way of knowing what could happen during this period.
Being complacent this early was not her forte. Zenesha still had a long way to go; she had to work even harder. The burden on the shoulders had only lessened slightly.
As she stared at her reflection again, Zenesha's eyes burned with passion and hope.
While the palace was a bit chaotic after Carina's death, Zenesha's routine still had to continue. A single royal attendant's death really wasn't enough to affect the Wolf Queen's life, and for that matter, everyone including the four spawns of hell.
Walking to the dining room, Zenesha had the urge to just fuck it and not eat with them for once since she could now control this body. She had the strength to refuse.
However, that was a reckless thing to do. Something in her intuition told her that there was a significant risk for her if she didn't act as the normal Zenesha before these harem member bastards.
Zenesha would never belittle her intuition. This feeling also made sense; these spawns of hell were also a part of the story that was greatly connected to her, even if she didn't want to admit it.
Prime said that most of the fate of this book world was concentrated on her, and that was because she was the protagonist. However, being the center of this fate could only mean that she was also connected and intertwined with most fates in this book world as the protagonist.
And these bastards were at the forefront of it all—the male leads.
No matter how much she wanted to kill all of them, just like she did to Carina, and be done with it all at once, Zenesha's rationality was still very much intact. Even without her intuition, her common sense still knew that killing these bastards would not give her a good outcome. Not at all.
Even though she wanted to kill them all, she couldn't. Real freedom was indeed too far for her.
Zenesha took a deep breath and entered the dining room. Once inside, her eyes immediately roamed and she observed the individuals present inside. Putting on a gentle expression on her face, she slowly approached the table while stealthily glancing at the two.
There were only two of the main harem members present, which overturned her conjecture that they would only gather and eat together if the four were complete.
Yosef greeted her lovingly as per usual, to which she only smiled. Her gaze lingered for a moment toward the red-haired demon at the side, Louvnel, who was staring at her deeply.
Ever since their encounter last time, Zenesha kept feeling that something was weird or added about him, but she didn't want to uncover them, so at least she decided to feign ignorance about it.
The coming days and weeks were too crucial for her, and the uncertainty was something she couldn't afford to take a risk on something unknown.
Thinking of this, she naturally averted her eyes and then smiled as she sat in the head seat. With a gentle expression, her melodic voice reverberated, and Zenesha immersed herself in the role.
"We're not complete," she said with a sad tone and sighed, but in a split second, a smile again curled on her lips. "But it's already good that two of you are here."
In her three months of watching pure Zenesha's actions in the middle of an act, she had long adapted to her character and paired it with her knowledge of the book and own acting skills. Zenesha knew just how much of a simple character this body of hers.
She was someone who frowned in certain sad moments but would immediately recover and smile afterwards, as though everything that happened was but a fleeting and natural part of life. A puppet that didn't have emotions was who she was.
So, in this act, she only needed to repeat all her sufferings from the past few months, but this time, it was now her choice.
She didn't know why Freed and Ravino weren't here, but she actually didn't care for the reason. Although Zenesha had guessed why Ravino wasn't present, it was probably about the human sorcerers that he was a part of.
As for Freed, it was one thing that she was celebrating that the man wasn't here; otherwise, she might not control herself on her first day seeing them without the Spirit Shackles locking her soul. Why would she be curious?
With the smile remaining on her lips, she spoke once more. "Let's eat."
She acted as though she didn't mind their stares as the two men looked at her, even though she was already seething inside and was about to puke. There was also something she could sense in the way they looked at her.
Louvnel was something expected with the way he acted last time. As for the cassanova? She didn't know what was on his mind, as he also stared at her deeply, even with his usual antics.
"Yes, my love, let's eat." Yosef agreed, and for now he also focused on his food.
They never really had any conversations while eating. But for some reason, a few minutes later, with only the sounds of the utensils and the plate resounding in the room, Zenesha really felt a chilling gaze, and yet with some intensity, it seemed as though she wanted to bore holes into her, which made her uncomfortable.
Finally, she couldn't help but raise her head. Instantly, her icy blue eyes met sinister red ones that gazed at her knowingly. As they made eye contact, Louvnel, who had been watching her since earlier, lifted the corner of his lips, which formed a dangerous smirk.
Zenesha nearly frowned and became out of character. However, even if she managed to stop her facial muscles, some hairs at the back of her head stood up, seeing that gaze and smirk.
It gave her the impression that... This demon knew something, and that was an extremely ominous feeling.
