Venera regarded the guard blankly as she processed his words.
"Do you genuinely believe what you are saying yourself, Mr. Guard?" she asked, her voice edged with disbelief.
She didn't believe his words at all, especially when his words ended with an obviously skeptical question mark. It was not convincing in the slightest.
The guard maintained his smile, a practiced expression that betrayed nothing of the turmoil beneath. Of course, he did not believe the words he had just uttered; they felt hollow even to him. Besides, it wouldn't be wise to admit that Seth preferred to avoid referring to her as "Her Majesty," would it?
