Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

"Bring those rifles back to Camp, Murphy," I said to him.

"Sure, who do I give them to?"

"Give them to people like that Miller guy or Atom. Guys that would listen to me, somewhat," I advised.

"How do I know that? I'm not all-knowing in case you didn't notice," he inquired.

"Well, you're going to ask them their opinion of me and if they think I'm a decent leader, which, by the way, with everything I've done for them in the past two days, they should, then you give them the guns," I proposed.

"Okay... What if they just say you're a good leader to get the goods," he contradicted.

"They won't know you got guns, dumbass. The only thing that I can think of that might keep the others from telling the truth is the fact that you're a former Bellamy follower. Once we eliminate that problem we should know for sure if we can trust them with dangerous weaponry," I observed.

"So, I think that you should ask Monty or Wells. Tell them you're asking on my behalf, got that," I instructed.

"Yes sir..." he responded but then turned around suddenly.

"Can't you ask them yourself since you're coming anyway," the arson committee stated.

"That's the thing though, I'm not coming with you," I announced.

"Why," he demanded raising his voice a little.

"Chill out, I have to make sure that the grounders don't find this place. After all, what is inside here may be a blessing, but the true godsend is the site itself," I reasoned

"Besides, you now know the way back. So when you'll have a few armed people, you'll take them here so that they can bring even more rifles back to camp," I ordered.

Murphy then left rifle in hand, to arm his fellow former inmates.

"Don't die alright," Murphy joked as he climbed the stairs towards the exit, the light of day shining through the opening.

"Don't worry about me. Worry a bit more about yourself. I wouldn't want a grounder to confuse you with a rat and kill you!" I joked back. (A/N: Pardon my lame insult.)

After that small case was taken care of, I revisited the place, trying to familiarize myself with the environment.

I was aiming to take over this infrastructure.

It would be a shame if we let such a construct that could easily be turned into a stronghold out of our grasp.

Plus, I felt that with enough renovations, this place could easily be turned into an anti-radiation bunker to survive the second Praimfaya.

Looking around I could see various small containers and other receptacles lying on the ground in various chambers.

I explored every room whether it be small, moderately sized or big and took everything out to reorganize it.

It was a complete mess that I wanted to sort out.

I was a bit of a clean freak after all.

Doing these small trivial tasks, as I thought of them, was also training, which I welcomed greatly.

I didn't feel tired though after not sleeping for the entire night.

it was like I had never expended any of my energy.

I continued my work while contemplating: if I could prevent the culling and the unity day incident, I would have around two thousand people that could be farmers, guards, engineers, doctors and any other job that needed fulfilling.

This would mean less dependency on grounders for resources (armies to defend our lands for example) and the ability to stand up to the coalition in case Clarke or any other person in a leading position failed to negotiate 'peace' with Lexa.

All this would allow all of us, by 'all of us' I mean Arkers, a better chance of survival against every party that stood in our way.

Contempt, disdain, outrage.

Those were the emotions I picked up on a few moments later.

Is a grounder here?

I quickly took a sniper that had an x6 scope attached to it and a few magazines to scout the area a little.

After going outside and crawling around the area for a while I found a rather tall patch of grass that could conceal me.

I set up the rifle and looked through the scope, scanning every inch of the area from which I felt those emotions.

At first, I was confused, as I had only seen birds with the scope until now, but after paying more attention to the trees, I discovered a woman with war paint and other accessories that camouflaged her body well amongst her surroundings.

She was looking in my general direction, most likely in an attempt to locate me but the grass was doing its job of hiding my person very well.

It was obvious that she had seen me leave the bunker, which meant she knew we now had a second refuge and a source of armament.

I couldn't let her tell her leaders about this.

Presented with a chance to keep this place unknown, I aimed at her abdomen and... hesitated.

What if I killed the person? But before I knew it I pulled the trigger and of course, due to my lack of concentration in my moral debate, I missed.

I had a decent amount of experience using sniper rifles to kill animals for their meat back home.

And at that time, I had somehow done some impressive kills.

Though this time was not one of them.

Shit! Assuming she encountered mountain men before, she now knows someone has a gun and is aiming at her.

After the bullet impacted the tree, I saw the female grounder leap off the branch she was on to try and escape.

I still couldn't let that happen though, which was why I aimed at her again and shot.

A yell of pain and emotions indicating suffering confirmed that I had indeed hit my mark.

The woman fell to the ground with a thud and I quickly made my way towards her to make sure she was deceased.

After finding the spy, I noticed she was still alive after checking her pulse which gave me an idea.

But first I should take her back to the bunker.
