Chapter 416 - Familiar Names

[Whilst the first part was about the Battles that Lazarus was included in, I should talk a bit about the Clash with the Veii and how well Prince Dong Cheng has performed. From all accounts I have had so far, Prince Dong Cheng supposedly disappeared early in the Clash and whilst most of the Player Forces on each side were fighting it out to see who was the last one standing, he was no were to be seen.

So how did he get the top score? There are two things that he did. Firstly the Battle didn't commence straight away, there was days of planning on both sides in advance, followed by skirmishes of different branches of Player forces, whilst these happened it is assumed that Prince Dong Cheng had headed East. Why East you may ask? The Samnites.

The Samnites were another native to the Italian Peninsula and at this stage of History were not part of Rome or the Latin League of related cities. We do not know how or why, but during the second day of the main Battle, Prince Dong Cheng arrived with his own Cavalry and a large force of Samnites, hitting the flank of the Roman Forces and winning the battle. I have also heard rumours that at the end of the battle, some of the Samnite forces may have left with Prince Dong Cheng.

Now descriptions from some other Players at the Battle, including BananaDinosaur who has spoken to us here before and fifth Place Lord PhoenixSlayer, the Battle was going in the Roman's favour until this point, they had a larger number of Player Lords and Guilds who were able to bring more to the Battle. However, as with Lazarus who is our current Number One Lord, Prince Dong Cheng is currently Second Place, and these aren't the kind of people you would expect to allow numbers to impact their plans.

So firstly, a congratulations to Prince Dong Cheng, but secondly to the Veii Players who I expect are enjoying what ever rewards they received from the battle!

The Battle of Lize is also quite interesting, not only did it have the highest number of Top Ten Players involved, as well as a large number of the Top Players in general, it is also changed compared to history. In the original Battle of Lize, the Yue forces defeated the Wu, but once again the Players knowledge has changed the situation. However, the Top Player this time wasn't a Lord Player but instead a Civilian one in the current fifth Place RisingMoonQueen.

Now you may remember RisingMoonQueen as the Player that is currently a Minister in the Game City of Kaifeng. Not only did she pass the imperial exams, in a place that only allowed men to sit it. She also had the highest scores and has become instrumental in the growth of the City she has joined, with vast armies and resources that she can access.

But it wasn't the armies that she supposedly used at Lize, but her mind. We don't know much about what happened behind closed doors, but she was supported by a wide range of other Players, including some of the other Lords after a senior Players meeting that happened on day one.

Originally, the Wu forces were split after attacking some of their other neighbours, whilst the Yue forces were fresh and had one goal in mind. This time however, the Wu forces were recalled, whilst those that were currently available created traps and other obstacles to slow the battle down so that reinforcements could arrive. Other Top Players such as second place Dawn Destroyer who is technically ranked higher than her, VladInvader, PrettyGreenEyes and Celtic Princess were also involved in this tactic.

They were successful enough that enough reinforcements arrived for them to fight defensively within the City itself. There is a simple rule of thumb, if an attacker has less than three times the numbers of the defender, without circumstances being in their favour or excellent tactics, then the battle will most likely end in the defenders win. It seems that in this case, that is what happened.

We are not entirely sure who was on the loosing side, but Prince Li Shang has been in touch to say that he was, but his forces still got some good rewards out of it, however some other Top Lord and Top Players were involved in the battle that faired badly, including someone whose name I mentioned hadn't reached the Top 3 on any of the rankings, but is a Top Player, Dragoon.

There has been no mention of Golden Lion, but Dragoon, the current second ranked Player was supposedly leading the Yue forces alongside the Game Characters and lost his life in one of the traps early on. Prince Li Shang said that he probably would have himself, if not for experience in many of the Battles he has taken part in as a Lord since starting the game.

It would be interesting to see the rewards of those that have arrived in the Top Three in each round, as so far we have heard of special buildings, weapons, mounts, gold and other materials as rewards so far.

I think the biggest talking points from this are the impacts that certain individuals have had at each battle. Lazarus, Prince Dong Cheng and RisingMoonQueen have all had major impacts through their tactics or the forces that they manage. The question that arises is, would these battles have ended differently if they had not joined the Battles, and the other question is, where was Golden Lion?

If any of the Top Players want to reach out to us and give us your opinions, please do comment in the comments section and I will reach out! I do have a thought to share though, that whilst the Lord Class Players will score highest at these types of Quests due to the expanse of their forces, or Guild Leaders who can compete next, the biggest success for me is RisingMoonQueen. RisingMoonQueen, like Dragoon and Golden Lion is not a Lord Player. Dragoon and Golden Lion are Adventurers and Warriors, whilst RisingMoonQueen is a Civilian Class. I am also a Civilian Class, so for her to be not only in the Top Ten Rankings but also to be the Top Player at arguable one of the biggest Battles is impressive.

I would still agree that Lazarus is the biggest winner of this, as both Mycale and Plataea were also very large, but for someone who isn't a Lord to be able to influence both the Wu forces and the other Players, she is one to watch out for.

As well as the World Conquest Battle Map's coming to a conclusion, I expect within the next week we will see an updated Ranking Board and we have the Update to look forward to. I fee it is still early for an update, as so little of the game has been explored so far, so for an update at this stage, I expect it could be for local events or something for the next World Conquest Battle Map.

Regardless, I will post tomorrow when we all find out!

GoldenSun out.]

"We are famous!" Andrew shouted to them as he came down the stairs behind them, seemingly also reading the blog as Dom had, with Kai beside him eating and smiling at Andrew's reaction. Dom didn't disagree, but some of the other names mentioned on the Blog had stood out to him.

"Yes we are." Kai agreed with a laugh, "You are finally mentioned in your favourite blog, I can't believe you haven't messaged in with all of your successes at Plataea."

"Who has time to message him before he posts?" Andrew replied as he came to sit beside them, "I have no idea how that man writes his blog so fast!"

"Maybe he writes fast because he is passionate about it?" Kai asked him, whilst Dom tuned out of their conversation. Jessica Moon and Elizabeth Medici were both mentioned as RisingMoonQueen and PrettyGreenEyes. His past competitor at Sun Ce's quest, Prince Li Shang had also been involved, as had the next most successful Lord, Prince Dong Cheng.

"Dom, are you going to message GoldenSun, it would blow up if you did?" Andrew asked him, pulling him from his thoughts.

"I replied to his blog once when someone in our region was having a hard time, but nothing came from it." Dom explained, as he looked towards the time. They would need to be at the main complex for nine, it was a long walk or they could see if they could get something to help them travel.

"Let's get some food and set of soon." Kai interrupted, also thinking the same thing, even though they had just eaten some breakfast. They wanted to get good seats for the entrance ceremony, where the Chancellor of the University would do a speech and then they would be able to access their timetables for the semester. Dom wasn't even sure what classes he had signed up to, as the thought had slipped his mind that the Isles of Britanny, 100 Peaks Sword Sect had done it for him.

He wondered if he would see either Elizabeth Medici or Jessica Moon there today, not for any reason other than to ask them both about the Battle of Lize, they all had an understanding of who each other was, and he was sure they would soon guess who Andrew and Kai were as well. The other thing that worried him was Alice, once she read the blog, she would be furious that her three team mates had all surpassed her.

"Let me go grab my shoes quickly!" Andrew stated, turning around to run upstairs, fluffy slippers currently on his feet that Dom had somehow not noticed. They were purple and Dom suspected Andrew may have borrowed them from his grandmother, as he often did.

"Do you need a help with your list whilst he puts something else on his feet?" Kai asked Dom, catching him of guard at his question.

"What list?" Dom asked him, his mind confused by the question as he was still thinking about the Rankings.

"Your marriage list, sorry Andrew and I chatted about it." Kai explained as Dom realised what he was talking about. "You need to choose a bride and there are many candidates. It can be a common thing in some Noble families. I know you aren't a noble, and it's a bit of a broken term. But I am from a family with money and if I don't find someone, they will probably find me a bride. My Mother is already looking at matches for my older brother and I doubt I will be far behind!"

"Honestly, it is difficult and I am trying not to think about it." Dom replied, shaking his head as he saw that Kai was trying to hold back a smile and keep a serious face. Dom had thought about it though, several times, but each time he came to the same conclusion, he had no idea.

"My advice, shortlist to people you know, so at least you have a basic relationship with them and it is less awkward. Unless some pre dates can be arranged with a shortlist, but even then it let's you shrink it." Kai began, before pausing, "There is something else though, I know this is to do with your family name, but if your Aunt is putting so much on this, then there must be more to it. I haven't heard of the Lazarus family, not that I know famous families. It wouldn't surprise me if your aunt and father's families were linked further back and that is why there is more pressure on it. Maybe you are the last heir to both families through some links, or something else. I would ask my Mother to do some digging, but even she won't touch someone like Lady Camilla Mordred."

"Is she that scary?" Dom asked him, knowing that Andrew had seemed to have told Kai everything, even things he wasn't sure he had fully told Andrew.

"Yes. There is a story of a foreign diplomat visiting the King of the Western Kingdoms and insulting them with his attitude. Supposedly he was found dead upon his return from apparent suicide." Kai stated, his words measured. "It could be a coincidence, but when I asked my Mother, she said she's a scary lady."

"How much have you told your mother?" Dom asked Kai in worry, not that anything was majorly secretive other than who his aunt was in connection to him.

"You are practically a brother, so my mother see's you and Andrew as Adopted Son's. That's why she made sure we got such a good house here. If I had a sister, I am sure she would push for her to marry you!" Kai replied, standing up and patting Dom on his shoulder. Dom looked at Kai and saw this his friend had changed recently, he wasn't sure if it was growing up and moving to the University or the Games impact, but he was definitely becoming more mature.
