On the ride back home, Jin Chen and Yang Lifei were both seated at the backseat with the driver at the front and Yang Feng at the passenger seat. He lived in the same community as Jin Chen and Ye Mufan, and had insisted on hitching a ride with them despite the fact that he had driven his car to their location. Jin Chen knew that he wouldn't talk him out of it so he just let him stay in the car.
Yang Feng had let his driver drive his car back to their community. He had to go back to the company because he had some pending work to do. But why would he go back to the community when he had work at the office? He had seen that his sister had something on her mind so he wanted to make sure that she was okay before he could go back.
His sister was still his first priority, then his family and the rest could follow behind. He only had one sister. What if something happened to her when he was away? No, he had to be there.
Even if she was already married and now had a new family, she was still his precious sister and there was nowhere he could find another one. He had always hoped that his sister would get married to Jin Chen because he was someone he knew and also that he could treat his sister right.
But now that they were already married, he felt that he had lost his sister to a wolf. His sister was so adorable that he still wanted to pamper her but already had a husband.
That was also another reason he was sitting together with them in the same car. He wanted to spend as much time with his sister before she started depending on that wolf.
The car was filled with silence that Yang Feng felt weird. He would look at the back seat from time to time hoping that one of them could break the silence but all he could see was his sister's head resting on Jin Chen's should and dozing off. What was wrong with them? They had just been engaged the other day, gotten married today and they were already showing off their love?
Why couldn't they take pity to a single person like him and the driver?! Looking at the driver, he sighed yet again. The driver was already married and had a child. He was so pitiful yet no one was pitying him. If he could have known he could have taken his own car back or his parents.
"Why are you guys so quiet? You guys are killing me here, okay?!" Yang Feng couldn't take the silence anymore and finally broke the silence. Although he talked, he made sure that his voice was very low so that his sister's nap would not be disturbed by his talking. Yang Feng thought that if the silence continued, he might go mad.
"What do you want us to say?" Jin Chen asked back, his voice low as well. He hoped his wife might rest very well. His hands were constantly rubbing Yang Lifei's shoulder. He wanted to be sure that she was there with him, and he was not dreaming.
Yang Lifei on the other was not really sleeping, she only had her eyes closed. Her head was on Jin Chen's shoulder and her hands were holding tightly onto his arm. The same reason Jin Chen was constantly rubbing her shoulder to make sure she was there, she also wanted to feel him physically to ascertain that he is there.
When she heard her brother's voice again, she still felt emotional. She had felt a lot of things and had seen so much since she came that she was afraid that, it was all her wishful thinking and deep desires much that she could even see them in her dreams.
She wanted to hold onto this beautiful dream and not wake up if she could still spend time with her beloved ones. Her parents were still alive, brother not a murderer and Jin Chen was not burning in that fire. Remembering that fire, her hands tightened on Jin Chen's arm making him pause his rubbing for a second before continuing.
Yang Lifei just hoped that Jin Chen would not break things off between them after hearing what she had to say. She deeply regretted her past deeds and hoped that Jin Chen would forgive her and they could count this as their fresh start and this time live a blissful life.
"Why are you here then?" She heard Jin Chen ask and she knew the question was meant for her brother because it was very weird that he was riding with them.
She didn't hear what Yang Feng said but only heard Jin Chen hum in response before keeping quiet again. He was still a man of a few words just like before.
Knowing her brother, they were probably talking about her. They didn't even need to use words to communicate with each other. Knowing that her brother was concerned about her, Yang Lifei smiled before snuggling even closer to Jin Chen.
Yang Feng got off at the gate of the community and got into his car. His driver had arrived earlier than them and was already waiting for him. Since he had made sure that his sister was alright and Jin Chen would take care of her, he left directly to go to the office. Since they lived in the same community, he could visit his sister often and disturb their bonding time.
He still wanted to spend time with his sister even if she was married to his good friend. What if Jin Chen bullied his sister later? He had to stand up for her. He would always interrupt them to make sure that his sister was not always bullied by him.
Yang Feng almost laughed at his crazy idea. He was such a genius.
Jin Chen and Yang Lifei got into the house and she sat down while Jin Chen went to pour her a glass of water to drink. Jin Chen could see how fidgety she was and hoped that the water would help calm her nervous self. He didn't know what she wanted to tell him but from how nervous she was, he even became nervous too.
They just got married, was she planning to leave him already? But he can't let go of her, he had loved her silently for so long and had never said it, if she really planned to leave him, he can't bring himself to let her go. Jin Chen had no idea that he had done the same in his past life, he had tied her to himself even though she was unwilling. He loved her too much that he couldn't let her leave.
Even when she did a lot of unspeakable things being instigated by her friends, he took him upon himself to clean the mess she always left but wouldn't let her go.
