It seemed to just exist within the present environment, as it was allowed to remain there without being pushed out by something stronger than it.
Having others in the area showed how they were able to coexist or even work together without fighting among themselves or preying on each other.
The worst part of it all for Ash was how the current situation proved how the cause of her being trapped had shown a certain degree of wisdom to be able to take its time to observe and wait for the right opportunity to strike.
It could have done so at any given time, but it did not do so.
It chose to wait and to let her get distracted and tire herself out a little before finally attempting anything.
Using one of the others as bait to draw her attention away and to leave her guard down during the moment of victory was a good approach to take.
