Seraphina felt it before she truly noticed it - the sudden weight of five gazes settling on her at once, heavy with confusion and curiosity.
She blinked, confusion knitting her brows together as she looked from one face to another.
"What?" she finally asked, arching her eyebrows high. "Why are you looking at me like that?" She directed her question at River.
River was still seated on the bed, but unlike the others, his gaze hadn't left her since the moment the initial shock faded. There was something intent in his expression now... thoughtful, searching, almost confident.
Instead of answering immediately, he shifted.
The thin night gown he wore slipped further down his shoulders as he stood, the fabric barely clinging to him as he climbed out of the bed. He ran a hand absently through his hair, pushing it back as if grounding himself, before he began walking toward her.
She watched him as he stopped directly in front of her.
