The path that the light laid out for us wasn't short.
It led us deeper into the city and it seemed like it was leading us quite a distance away from the temple.
With how far it seemed to lead us, I had no choice but to get on Lupus' back and let her take me there. After all, it would have taken us forever if I were to walk all the way to our destination.

The gods had already shown that they didn't care and that despair made me think of the people of the Kite Kingdom. If the gods didn't even care about me, then what reason would they have to care about the people that I cared about.
