Chapter 2 - [ The Newbie ]

𝗔𝗠𝗬'𝗦 𝗣𝗢𝗩

I was the one who called everyone at the Meh Burger but surprisingly! Knuckles, Sticks and Tails were already here, eating burgers?!

"Hey, guys!" I said, grabbing a chair. My eyes narrowed a little when I noticed the half-eaten burgers and fries already scattered across the table. "Wait.. you all weren't hanging out here before I even called, right?"

"Nope, just got here." Tails, eating a fry while also working on some device.

"Alright.." I say before dropping my suspicion and grabbing a chillidog from Sticks plate despite her protests. "Do you think Sonica has found the address?"

"Sonica? Uh, that girl who we met at the beach? I guess she did." Tails replied, pushing his goggles back up.

Hm, I wonder where she must be living.

Just then Sonic—- the 'fastest' hedgehog arrived, and I snapped out of my thoughts.

"Hey, guys." He said, pulling the chair beside Tails.

"Hey, Sonic!" Knuckles waved his hand while the rest just gave a busy 'Hey' back.

"So.." Sonic cooed after making his order, "Do you guys know that someone has shifted next to my shack. Who could it be?"

Whoa!

I gasped and turned to him, " It must be her!" Then I cheered, "That means she has found the address~ Hehe~"

"What? Who are you talking about?" He said while scratching his head.

"We met a girl today at the beach and her name was Sonica. She could run fast, just like you." Tails replied, looking at the blue hedgehog.

Then Sonic chuckled and said, " Stop it, Tails. It's not April fool's day. There's only room for one devastatingly fast blue hero around here." He smirked, about to take another bite.

"That sounded rehearsed, Sonic." I pointed out.

He scoffed and stuffed the chillidog into his mouth, "Because greatness deserves branding, Amy. You won't understand."

And I rolled my eyes.

"It's true. You tell him, Amy." Tails gestured towards me, with the wrench in his hand.

"Ugh, I don't think he will believe us so let's just go and meet her." I muttered and took the last bite of my chillidog.

Everyone nodded, except for Sonic.

As we reached our destination (i.e Sonica's house), I gently knocked three times, because manners matter!

Then the door opened.

"Oh.."

"I.. didn't expect you to be here, Amy, Tails, Sticks, Knuckles and... another blue hedgehog."

Her eyes scanned each of us. They were so cold and stern.

"Um.. that's Sonic. He is your neighbour." I added.

"Well, nice to meet you, Sonic the hedgehog." She turned to Sonic, almost like a threat.

"Well, nice to meet you, Sonic the hedgehog."

Wow. Friendly.

"Nice to meet you too." I said, "What did you say your name was?"

"Sonica..." She replied with a sigh.

Hm, our names match. Well, she is a hedgehog having blue fur, red stripes on arms and a small red lighting bolt symbol or something on her forehead. That doesn't mean she can run as fast as me.

"She talks like she's narrating a revenge story." whispered Sticks, soon shushed by Amy.

"Well, Sonica, do you wanna hang out with us?" asked Amy.

"I have to arrange all the furniture, so I can't." She replied, leaning against the doorframe.

"Then we can help you." I added with a shrug.

"Yeah, Sonic's right." Tails chimed in.

"I can do it myself. You can carry on with your works." She shook her head.

She doesn't want our help?

Do we look that goofy?

"Come on, Sonica. We can help you and besides. . . we don't have any other thing to do." Amy cleared her throat.

"But—"

"So, where do we start~?" Amy asked, walking inside Sonica's shack, leaving her surprised.

But she composed herself and sighed, "Fine..."

Then Sticks, Tails and Knuckles also followed in. But I just stood there, why? I dunno. I was still thinking.

But then, Sonica was about to close the door when she noticed me.

"You coming?"

"Yes, I am coming." I replied, quickly dashing in.

Then she closed the door. But my eyes went wide as I saw huge boxes and furnitures all misplaced.

No way she could do this on her own...

"SO LET'S STARTTT!!" Amy said out loud while raising a.. broom?

I bet she likes these kinds of works.

Then Sticks and Tails started unboxing the boxes. Amy was supervising us. I and Knuckles were placing the furnitures here and there as told by Amy.

"I was born for this moment." Knuckles commented, holding the couch upside down.

I facepalmed.

But Sonica... was just standing there, leaning against the wall while looking at us with her arms crossed over her chest.

𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗔'𝗦 𝗣𝗢𝗩

I was busy placing my furnitures, I know there were many of them but it was easy if I used my powers. But just as I was about to use my powers, someone had to interfere. Great.

With a sigh, I opened the door and saw Amy, Knuckles, Tails, Sticks. A goofy bunch. Then I also noticed a blue hedgehog whose name happened to be Sonic.

Our named match, hm?

They wanted to help me with the furnitures but.. I literally had my powers. But still they insisted and went inside. Amy is as stubborn as.. someone I knew from my past.

Anyways, I had no other choice so I had to let them in.

Then they took all the effort to unbox the boxes, arrange the stuffs and even consider astrology?

But I just stood there, leaning against the wall because I knew my opinions wouldn't match. But I shall repay them some way or another.

After they were finished, they sat down on the rug, exhausted and breathing heavily.

Aw, they really did their best.

That thought made me chuckle inside but I stayed composed and walked over, opening my mouth. "..what do you guys want in return?"

"A chillidog." Sonic blurted out.

"Sonic!" Amy glared at him, then looked at me. "Sonica.. we are friends and friends help each other.."

I tilted my head slightly, my face was still emotionless. "You decided that quite quickly."

"That's our thing!"

How could you assume that just after meeting twice?

"Yeah! We are! You are my friend too!" Knuckles lightly punched my arm which took me by surprise again.

But we just met... How can we be friends?

Then Amy opened her arms, "New friendship group hug~?"

What? A group hug?

"Not really." I murmured, stepping one step away.

"Aw..." she made a sad, pouty face, "Okay, then."

I sighed softly and looked at the rest." Well, do you want something to drink, maybe?"

"Yes." Everyone said in unison.

"Which drink?"

"Water will do."

"And some ice in it." Sonic added and everyone else nodded.

"Alright.. I will be back in a minute." I muttered and went to the kitchen.

There I took 5 glasses and poured some water into them. And I forgot that the fridge wasn't cold enough because it was just plugged in, so there was I would get ice so quick unless. . . I use my powers.

So here it goes..

I poured water in the ice tray (or whatever it is called) and while making sure no one was looking, I snapped my fingers. Then the water in the ice tray froze into little cubes.

Then I dropped those cubes into the glasses, placed the glasses on a tray and went to the living room. "Here."

"Won't you have one?" Amy asked while taking a glass.

I just shook my head.

"Well, okay then." She replied while everyone else drank the water.

"But how did you get ice so fast. We just plugged in your fridge 15 mins a-"

"What's so strange in that, Tails? Maybe your nerd instincts finally snapped." Sonic chimed in, putting the glass aside.

"Uh.. not possible but, I guess..." Tails shrugged.

I sighed in relief.

That was close.

Then Amy stood up while saying, "Sonica, I have to go. I have to do some shopping. You wanna join?"

I didn't really wanted to go, so I shook my head again, "I think I will stay at home.."

"Okay, then. Bye everyone. See ya later." Amy smiled with a hand-wave of 'Bye' and left.

"I also have to go. I have to rummage through the garbage." Sticks quickly followed after Amy, "Bye-"

Yes, yes, please leave me alone..

"I guess you guys also have some work?" I asked, rubbing the back of my neck.

"Oh, yes, will make a communicator for you-" Tails quickly got off the couch and showed me his communicator on his wrist, "You see this thing on our wrists. It helps us to communicate with each other."

"Oh..."

"And, Knuckles, will you come in my lab and help me?" Tails asked, "I need to bring some stuffs carried."

"Sure thing." Knuckles replied with that smile, and they both went outside.

Now only Sonic and I were left..

Dear fate, please make him leave too.

"So, that shack is yours?" I pointed with my thumb towards the shack that could be seen through the window.

"Yes..." He replied and stood up, clearing his throat. "I.. think I should also go now. Save the village as usual or something." He adjusted her neckerchief.

He is a hero?

"Alright. Bye"

"Feel free to reach out. I mean, I'm basically the neighborhood welcome committee." He said in a fast tempo as he dashed outside.

"You live next door." I sighed to myself.

He suddenly arrived at the door, peeking his head in. "Exactly. Very official."

Then he left again.

I could see the blue blur he left as he ran. So I wasn't alone, huh?
