Chapter 232 - Story 12 Fate/Fool Chapter 6

Lord El-Melloi II had an utterly exhausted look upon his face as I asked my 'innocent' question.

"You are... Either a monster of confidence or a complete fool." He stated bluntly as I was thankfully alone with him beside his shadow in Gray.

To which I shrugged as I was literally a Gojo. Running face-first into bullshit with blinding confidence was kinda my bloodline's shtick with how we could no sell so much with our limitless technique.

And in doing so I had walked up to my teacher and asked him frankly. "How does one join Barthomeloi Lorelei on her hunts as one of her Enforcers."

Leading to the current situation of Waver Velvet cupping his face as he looked at me with a face that just screamed. 'I am done with you!' Which was fair... I did ask him to burn some of his favors in getting me added to the Spiritual Invocation department and here I was asking for something most would consider suicidal.

"Fine. It's not like you are asking me to burn any favors in connecting the two of you or anything." He muttered before checking his watch to see how much time we had before my classmates began streaming into his afternoon class. "If you want to get on the Queen's good side... Then just join the enforcer's branch of the Mages Association and then kill five Dead Apostles. At that point, she will naturally send you an invite to join her Brigade."

I blinked at how easy that was and after a moment I even asked for clarification. "That's it?"

To which Waver gave me a deadpan look and he said flatly. "Jake Bariss, your ignorance will be the death of you. When I say Dead Apostles I do mean Dead Apostles that are wanted by the Mage's Association and such targets are far more dangerous than the rabble mages that dabbled in forbidden research!"

After a moment I smiled and gave Waver a bright thumbs up as I lifted up my blindfold and his eyes met my Six Eye's with his form becoming guarded for a split second before I just cheerily. "It will be fine, teach. I am a Gojo after all."

His head tilted to the side in confusion hearing my words but I just bounced over to my seat and sat down as I waited for my fellow students to pile into the classroom while I took out my notebook to take down notes as Waver began his lesson.

While my fellow students piled into the classroom I blinked as Nazica, and Radia of the Pentel family sat on both sides of myself with the twin girls nonchalantly sitting beside me on each side.

Both girls shared darker brown hair and mildly curvy bodies with each of them wearing matching blouses that were tucked into knee-length skirts but they distinguished themselves with Nazica having her hair up in a knot and ponytail while Radia wore her long hair straight.

And as Waver began blandly marking us down for attendance on his own, Nazica spoke quietly. "Getting invited into a department directly by a Lord is a rather loud move you know... And for a first-generation mage, being well-known isn't that smart."

I raised an eyebrow and shrugged as I said evenly. "I appreciate the warning but as a man-"

Before I continue the other twin Radia cut in flatly. "This isn't a warning to you. This is us telling you not to get our teacher into trouble."

I almost frowned at that before smiling and saying frankly. "I asked for a favor and he obliged. If it was too much trouble he could have refused... Besides I am now a member of the Spiritual Invocation Department after meeting with Lord Bram Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri."

Both twins stilled as they seemingly didn't catch that piece of news that the lord of the department had accepted me and as the cold twin in Radia went to say something she froze as with a soft clinking noise I put down the coin/token for my entry into the Spiritual Invocation department that acted as my pass into the heavily warded part of the Association.

Both of the scions of the Pentel family were quiet for a long minute as Waver finished writing down the attendance and then Nazica asked in some confusion. "But how did you gain entry? You don't have any prior experience with magic to add to the department's research?"

To which my face twitched into a wry smile before I answered frankly. " Lord Bram Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri after taking a look at me and talking to me for a couple of minutes. Decided that with how handsome I was, that if I joined the department other young talented mages would join to follow me purely for my appearance." I finished with an utter deadpan.

There was a moment of silence before Radia sighed and muttered in annoyance. "That is like him as well... He spends whole families' worth of wealth every year to secure mystical ingredients to keep his face beautiful even while using necromancy and spiritual evocation."

The fact that Bram Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri was such a narcissist actually played into my favor as both twins didn't bother me anymore and likewise I didn't bother them as I hadn't proven myself yet. And I didn't care for their disregard of myself due to my lack of magical bloodline history and accomplishments.

"Now today we will be discussing the effects of Shamanism and the effects it has had as a school of magic throughout Europe and the Americas." Waver spoke as he tapped his podium and from within it came a stack of small but old books that flew out to our desks. "Now Shamanism is a wide term which depending on which culture used its brand of magic will have many different effects and connotations."

I took the book and as I read its title I hummed as I got a Celtic Shaman book about druids, Radia, got a book on shaman magic from Native American's and Nazica got a book on Mongolian-based Shamanism.

"Now! The people you are sitting with are your group haha! Now with all forms of Shamanism having roots and ties to one another and being compatible to some extent. I want the three of you to find a spell, a ritual, a potion, or any form of Magecraft that using your three styles of shamanism that has been provided you must show off in front of the class safely in two weeks." Waver said with some sadistic joy at how Flat was sitting alone in a front seat as his fellow classmates moved away due to his tendency to blow himself and his surroundings up with his antics in chanting spells and ritual directions.

Both Radia and Nazica gave me a look and I shrugged saying. "Well... Let's take the next couple of days to study these books at the least before we decide what our project will be on." I said fairly and the two nodded in agreement.
