Chapter 812 - The Coexistence of Light and Heavy

Pupitar stood on the ground, looking at Sabrina intently.

Even Pupitar, upon hearing Sabrina's words, was extremely curious—curious about what exactly the gain Sabrina mentioned was.

After a while, as if she had sorted out the information about this psychic power technique, Sabrina began to speak slowly: "By observing the way the Float Stone operates within Pupitar, I successfully simulated the way that psychic power flows."

After she finished speaking, Sabrina used Teleport to appear right in front of Terrance. As a dark shadow flashed before his eyes and he caught a whiff of a pleasant fragrance, Terrance was momentarily stunned and took a step back.

The next moment, Sabrina spoke again: "Want to give it a try?"

"You want me… to be a test subject?" Terrance gritted his teeth. There shouldn't be any accidents, right?

Oh well.

"Please."

As soon as Terrance spoke, Sabrina nodded, touched his arm with her finger, and immediately, Terrance felt a miraculous change in his body.

He hurriedly activated his meditation method, materializing psychic power to wrap around his eyes, and at once, Terrance could see the mysterious aura enveloping his arm.

This aura wasn't like any Terrance had seen before, but its strangeness was in no way inferior.

"This is…" Feeling the odd sensation in his arm, Terrance shook it vigorously. It was light, far too light. In that instant, it was as if his arm wasn't even his own; he couldn't feel any weight at all. When he moved his other arm, his body felt extremely unbalanced...

"I'll let you compare." Seeing Terrance's gradually changing expression, Sabrina tapped his other, normal arm as well. In the next moment, a gravity field spread over it, and Terrance's other arm was filled with an unimaginably heavy sensation!

It was as if he were wearing a suit of steel armor!

His left arm was extremely light, while his right arm was extremely heavy, giving Terrance an indescribable feeling. He looked at Sabrina, never expecting that Sabrina had already reached such a level.

Gravity is a Psychic-type move, something Carbink excels at, but even Carbink, and even the Pokémon who maintain the gravity room in Crown Academy's trial ground, absolutely cannot apply a gravity field to just a part of the body.

Their gravity moves can only set up a gravity field within a prescribed area. It can be large or small, the gravity level adjustable, but all of them have one thing in common: they are regular. The shape and range of the gravity field are extremely regular. In fact, if there is any complex variation, the gravity field would break down, because to maintain a gravity field, the fluctuations of psychic power must reach a state of equilibrium. Terrance had always believed this principle.

But now, Terrance looked at the gravity field enveloping just his arm—only his arm—and fell silent.

"Gravity move… can actually be developed to the point where it's applied just to a specific limb?" Terrance never expected that such development would be achieved by a human…

"Maybe… the Xerneas that trained Altaria in Kalos could reach this level, or maybe Mewtwo, or Mew, but who knows if Carbink could master this technique… This would be a huge help in the use of gravity moves."

"And that's not all…"

"Even Float Stone, too. Float Stone can only lighten the whole body; even if Pupitar has a Float Stone organ, it can only reduce its overall weight. But what if Pupitar could, like Sabrina, control the weight of various parts of its body at will?"

"When exerting force, it could allocate strength to the needed parts, and let the parts that hinder movement become inert. In that case, after Pupitar evolves, could it master even stronger battle techniques?"

At that moment, Terrance closed his eyes, and pictured a scene in his mind…

A monster resembling an enormously enlarged Larvitar was standing on a vast plain.

Around this Desert Tyrant, countless enemies had gathered, but with its massive tail slamming the ground, Tyranitar appeared utterly fearless. Its waist and legs beneath its blue belly were filled with tremendous power, allowing it to stand firmly on the ground as if fused with it, seeming as though no attack could bring it down.

As the sandstorm rose, a sand saber formed out of thin air and was deftly grasped by Tyranitar. In the next instant… hundreds of Pokémon charged in to besiege it, and Tyranitar let out a furious roar, skillfully counterattacking with the sand saber in hand. Its body stood tall and immovable like a towering mountain, while its arms were as nimble as tree branches, moving with incredible speed. At the same time, an endless stream of power surged up from its lower body, granting Tyranitar an extraordinarily strong endurance in battle, forming… an attack style filled with both superb technique and power!

"The lower body is one of the keys to generating and transmitting power. Maybe, Tyranitar could use the properties of the Float Stone to better utilize the advantage of its weight?"

Just as Terrance was imagining all this, his arms returned to normal, bringing him back to his senses.

"Miss Sabrina, do you think Pupitar could use the Float Stone the way you do?!"

"You mean… instead of the Float Stone's power being triggered passively, Pupitar could actively control the flow of that energy?" Sabrina said calmly.

"Yes, that's what I mean. Right now, Pupitar has mastered extreme-light mode and extreme-heavy mode. The former is its state after activating the Float Stone organ—its body becomes much more agile than others of its kind. As for the latter, because of its special nature, its body weight is already several times greater than others of its species, and it contains considerable power. So I was thinking…"

"Is it possible for these two modes to coexist?" Terrance's eyes lit up, clearly excited. As a Breeder, being able to improve an already powerful breeding method brings a sense of accomplishment that's hard to find elsewhere!

Looking at Terrance, Sabrina fell silent for a moment before saying, "Pupitar isn't a Psychic-type Pokémon, so it probably has no way to manipulate psychic power. This is a technique as complex as the Gravity move. Even Psychic-type Pokémon might not be able to do it, let alone Pupitar."

"That…"

Sabrina's words immediately calmed Terrance down. Indeed, even if the Float Stone itself contains psychic power fluctuations, passively receiving it and actively controlling it are two entirely different things…

Kirlia could use psychic power to let Pupitar teleport by means of "Ally Switch," but for Pupitar to control "Ally Switch" on its own would be an impossible task. That was Sabrina's point.

"Is there really no way after all…" Terrance frowned. The thought of combining extreme-light and extreme-heavy modes already had him impatient to perfect the technique, but Sabrina's reminder was like a bucket of cold water poured over his head.
