The pyramids hadn't collapsed. There weren't even scattered stones.
All that remained on the sand were long, sweeping tracks—marks left by something massive being moved. The trails converged from multiple directions toward a central point, proof the pyramids had existed… and then been hauled away as a whole after completing some task.
Including the largest pyramid.
Including the one his team had been inside.
The ground was empty.
His companions were gone.
Ethan's particles halted midair. His chest sank hard.
"Seriously… how'd they know I'd leave?"
He scanned the desert fast, hunting for any familiar energy signature. But aside from the fading mechanical residue, there was nothing—no trace of where the others had been taken.
