An explosion erupted underground.
Ethan burst from the shattered particles, his wings propelling him away. He flung an energy sphere behind him, hoping the explosion would cut off Lunethar's pursuit.
But Lunethar caught up the instant he released it.
The energy sphere and the surrounding eyes under Ethan's control vanished in a burst of white light. Lunethar charged through the explosion on fully formed legs, six thick arms lining its sides.
Ethan looked up at the towering giant and rapidly assessed the situation.
A wormhole quietly opened beneath his feet.
Half a step back, and he would be inside.
Too late.
Lunethar appeared below him and swept one leg upward. The top of its foot struck Ethan in the stomach, launching him high into the air.
Before Ethan could recover, Lunethar was already above him. Six fists closed in from different directions, compressing the air with a series of muffled booms.
Just before they hit, all six stopped.
