Chapter 2 - Chapter 1(lower)

Even though he owned his own business, dealing in fine metalwork, he still had to do deals with bigwigs and merchants, and that wearying aspect of running his own company meant a trip out for dinner at least once a week.

And tonight one of those social dinners was on its way.

The waiter came over and set down some coffee, turning away before Darius could answer his question. A moment later a platter of toast bread made its appearance. Afterwards, Darius looked up from the table to see where the waiter had gone; but the man had left without another word. It was not like The Rose & Crown to be so rude -but then again, it wasn't every day that people ordered coffee as an appetizer.

A few minutes pass by and the waiter returns with Darius' order. He sets it down in front of him.

"Your food, sir," he says.

He licks his lips and wipes his sweating forehead with a napkin. As soon as he puts down the empty plate and reaches for his wallet, a voice comes from behind him.

"Yo, what's the rush, Darius," a man said.

Darius turned around to see a brown, muscular and tough looking man about the size of a tree who looked like he could be a bouncer at a nightclub. He had one large blue eye and one smaller green one, which made him look like some sort of mythological creature. "I got to head out now," Lox said with his deep voice, "to continue salvaging the ruins of a town."

Darius was taken aback by Lox's sudden appearance and his strange profession. He knew him as a friend for over 10 years, but he had never revealed his real name or why he was so keen on salvaging ruins.

"Well you got to let us join in, we need some loot too my dude," he says

"You get everything Lox, you are much stronger then me in physical strength, and you have a better weapon than I do," I reply

"The more the better, those zombie ain't gonna get kill themselves, I'm coming whether you like it or not," he laughs and says

"Oh F*ck you," Darius says angrily

Thus, Darius had no choice but to accompany Lox on a mission to forage for supplies. It took them half an hour of driving before they reached their destination.
