Chimwemwe's Pov
The hoover-board was moving a bit slowly in the night-sky as I just wanted to enjoy the cool breeze while laying down on the board looking at the crescent moon. I've always enjoyed night time more than day. Maybe it's those feline genes making me more nocturnal.
Looking below and it looked even better now than it did in the day. Sure I've seen this on the plane sometimes but I just put it this had a whole different vibe to it. I can understand why a lot of charterers which have the ability to float or fly just sometimes choose to chill in the sky for a little while.
I took out my phone and magnetically placed it in the perfect distance to take a good photo.
"Hm. Nice." I looked at the photo and flew a bit faster to the meet up place.
After like three more minutes worth of flying I reached the spot where Nova and Will said they wanted to meet up and they were sitting on the stone barrier. Well Will was sitting on it Nova was just doing hand stands walking on it.
"Sup bitches." I lowered towards them.
"Finally I thought you were ghosting us onight!" Nova beamed flipping to her feet.
"Hey dude." Will and I fist bumped and he began eyeing the board. "So this is the hoover-board?"
"Yes sir~" I did a hand stand on the board to make it twirl a bit and hopped back to my sitting position. "But a friend of mine made it. I'm just borrowing it for a bit"
"Really!? So you think you can hook me and Nova up with some of those boards." He said slyly nudging my shoulder
Nova's face lit up. "Hey that's a great idea Will."
I rolled my eyes in unamusement, placing my hand on my cheek. "Here I thought you called me because you wanted to hang out not be your hoover-board."
"Oh don't be turned into a pouty sad boy kid, your seniors still love ya." She tried to reach out but I went a bit higher out her reach. "Hey if you do stuff like that I might take my love back."
"Oh really? Damn how would I go on without you~?"
"Okay Mr. Smartass now you really need to get us hooked up with those boards if you want any more special time with us."
"Okay children break it up, let's focus on why we gathered here today. You both can exchange those try hard CW witty lines later." joked Will. "But for real man we thought you weren't coming since you're on a trip and all. You're not going to get in trouble for being here right."
I shrugged , hopping back to the ground."Meh, we weren't really doing much this time. For the most part we're just decorations so don't worry about it."
"Awesome, that means we get more time to spend with each other." Nova wrapped her arm around my shoulder.
"So what's planned for tonight?" I asked them and Will showed me his phone causing me to close my eyes. " 'HISS!' Bro, are you trying to blind me?!."
"Oh shit sorry man." He adjusted the brightness and I saw the pic more clearly.
It was a picture of an advertisement for dad's band.
"Wrong picture Willy." Nova slid to the next image, a poster. Traditional outfits, instruments, vibrant colors.
"It would be a good chance to listen to different sounds and I've been trying out. Check it out" His hand speaker began playing some of his experimental beats. "So what do you think?"
I rubbed my hair a bit. "It's great man but I hate to rain on your parade but isn't that just Afro beats?"
Nova chuckled. "I know right. That's what I've been telling him and even though it sounds great Professor Beats here is so obsessed with creating a brand new revolutionary sound."
"Well 'Professor Beats' is on his way to making a huge break though. You'll be sorry when I'm in my mansion and the two of you will be beginning to munch on my success." He went into a thinking pose and began day dreaming.
"Yeah yeah. But for now you still rely on cash from my videos for extra bread."
"Wait, you gave him money but still haven't paid me yet. You're two months lat…" She pressed me harder on her body.
"Let's forget about all this talk about money and just enjoy the night." She laughed nervously and began to run, dragging with her and Will followed closely behind us.
It seems like the place was even more lively at night than it was during the day. The narrow coral-stone alleys were glowing with hanging lanterns and strings of lights tied between old buildings. The air smelled like grilled seafood, spices and fried dough.
Music drifted through the streets from different directions. Drums somewhere and singing somewhere else. It was so loud that I had to adjust my hearing aid.
When we turned into another alley we nearly bumped into a group of tourists staring up at a massive mural painted on the side of an old building mural painted side of an old building. It showed a huge wave crashing towards the town while a serpent like creature rose from the ocean and at the bottom were people being carried on its back through the water, and a person on its head playing a drum.
After reaching the wider street we checked out different sites.
Will was more focused on the musical stalls and artists going on from different artists all around, Nova snatched the hover-board from me and began flying around gaining some attraction from some people when she did some tricks using the city as her own personal park. But a hero came over and put a stop to it, giving her a warning.
We did a couple of more stuff like take some photos, messed around in nyawu masks we got, played some instruments and Will suggested we should form a band which I bluntly denied making Nova pat the sulking boombox teen.
I noticed that there were more heroes around now than there were in the afternoon. A lot of them were taking selfies with people or doing some showboating. Hey I won't judge you do what you can to get the bag I guess but something tells me a certain masked sword wielding hobo man would be seething if he saw all this.
"Damn this is over stimulating Hey Nova you've been here before right. Is it usually packed?" I finished adjusting the earphones.
She shrugged. "Mhm depends. I've been here like two times. At first it was packed because of the Mwana wa Maja show but last year wasn't so great because I heard the festival isn't what it used to be.."
"Yeah my dad told me about that. He said things haven't been so hot these past three. I think that's the reason their advertising so many entertainers and heroes this time around to get some buzz, they also hired Grey hippos agency and Mrs. Giva for a special cameo hoping the guys in the top 10. But they really went all out to hire a foreign hero agency." Will explained.
That's a big promise. How are they going to convince a giant ocean monster to come out when it doesn't want to? That's just a disaster waiting to happen.
Nova hopped onto a low stone wall and began balancing along it like it was a tightrope.
"Nova come on will you stop hopping around like a lemur on sugar high." Will poked fun at her.
"Bitch you're just jealous you can't move like me." She clapped back while flipping and doing a handstand.
I tuned out their little banter and looked around at all the posters of the Mwana wa maji show tomorrow. I remember when I first saw the show on T.V and couldn't believe such a creature was just around as the world of MHA was not known for having giant monsters but have read stuff on rare cases on animals with quirks and rumour/conspiracy theories online that the amazon and congo might be full of them. I wonder what quirk the Mwana wa Maji had to mutate it into that or if someone turned it to that.
"Okay Nova I'm done for the night and don't try to fly off either you know I can magnetically snatch that thing from." I stood up, stretching a bit and snatching them .
"Already. What your social batteries drained already?" Nova teased a bit by handing me the board.
"Yep." I shrugged.
"It's not fun when you admit it." She mumbled. "Fine, there's a place I want us to check out first."
"You still want to go to Mtoni Palace Ruins?" asked Will.
"And why do you want to go there? I read that it wasn't in good shape ever since the flood." I asked them.
She leaned on trying to touch my ears but I kept slapping her hand away. "Oh nothing. The place just has nice scenery and there's just some shots I want to take from there."
"Well I'll meet you two there's something I need to take care of first."
"What is it?"
"Jazz gave me some cash to buy some masks for the performance tomorrow."
"Don't they have people to take care of their outfits?" I asked.
"They understaffed for this and she said they're special orders and everything. Besides, she gave me extra for all that stuff I bought. This is the least I can do."
"It's alright to meet you there. Come on Chimzey lets gwoo~." She grabbed my shoulders to drag me but I slipped out of her grasp.
"Geez Giva, learn to keep your hands to yourself." I huffed and began to walk away.
"Wow you really are a fickle cat aren't ya~." She laughed catching up while waving to Will.
After a little while of walking in the noisy street we made our way towards the quieter part of town. After getting a little further I noticed the paths were older, less narrow and more jacked up, there were destroyed houses spread out and there were patches of greenery from moss, plants and trees growing out all over.
I've seen some pictures of the damage the flood caused but I thought they would have renovated more of the town. Guess there was something they were still working on or too lazy to work on but I kind of think it is charming in a way. It low-key makes me feel like playing the last of us.
My eyes shifted to the left as I picked up on odd signatures following behind us. It was a similar feeling as the guy with a stealth quirk but to a lesser degree plus I unlike him there were electrons involved in it. So either this person has a quirk which lets them use electricity to camouflage or they are using a stealth suit.
I looked at Nova to warn her and noticed that Nova's expression seemed more focused with her eyes sharp and finger glowing so nudged her shoulder getting her attention.
"Hey Nova, have you noticed our stalker?"
"Sort of. I mean I had a feeling someone was following us since we got here but I don't know where they are. Why do you have that evil look on your face?"
I gave her a sly wink. "Don't worry, just leave that to me."
Removing my left land from my pockets it was already sparkling with electricity.
"Wow hold on there you fluffy crush-out you'll end up frying them."
"Hey there, the one's stalking us. Don't do the crime if you're not ready to take the punishment."
"That's not how the saying goes. Just tell me where they are so I can take care of this." She smiled and winked.
I dispelled my electricity " 'Tsk' Fine right now they just come out of that tight space. They are that way right now." I pointed directly where she was.
"Roger." She shot her neon ball from her hand and quickly hit the target.
OOFF!
A female voice echoed on the and the person was completely visible on the ground.
I raised my eyebrow. "Wait so you had problems with my method but you're cool with that. You do know you're also basically launching a ball of plasma right."
"Shut up dude, mine wasn't going to cause paralysis. Plus we both know I put WAY less power in my attack than you." She clapped back.
Hm I couldn't really argue with that.
"Alright no that's taken care off lets go." I began to walk away.
"Hold up, I want to know why she was following us."
"Nova, she's wearing a skin tight suit. I don't think she's a regular stalker, let's just go before…!"
She continued to walk towards the person and I just rolled my eyes but followed close behind her towards the creep.
Taking a closer look at her she looked to be in her early thirties, about 5 '4 in height, her was textured, almost stone-like or metallic quality, threaded with glowing, vein-like patterns, long, dark hair styled in a braid. And wearing a dark, form-fitting full body suit.

Judging from the signature the suit was giving off I guess it was responsible for the indivisibility or camouflage in a better sense. But you don't get support items like this here in Nyasaland unless you are really loaded or you really know a guy.
"So a fan of yours or your mom?"
Nova shrugged her shoulders. "Beats me. Hey lady, why the hell were you following us? Are you some kind of mugger or creepy stalker?"
The lady just looked up at us in shock while gripping her abdomen in pain and tried to back away a little bit and held her hands up and began speaking Swahili which Nova and I didn't understand. Well I got some words but my Swahili was rough at best.
Noticing this she switched to English.
"Wait, please hold on, this is a misunderstanding I mean no harm I'm just a guard. I'm sorry for scaring you but this part of town is restricted and ." She quickly explained.
Well that was an obvious lie.
"Oh my god well sorry for attacking you we just freaked out a bit since you. Please don't send us to call the police or the heroes. We just wanted to see the castle" Nova said sheepishly.
"It's alright I understand if you feel uneasy. A lot of kids come here with stupid plans and reckless plans " She waved it off and started to get up.
While she was getting up leaned on Nova a bit to get her attention. I mouthed out the word 'sus' and she paused looking at the lady then turned to me and nodded.
My eyes twitched as I picked up a radio signal coming from her communicator.
Being a little suspicious I hijacked the signal using my hearing aid as a medium. On the other side I heard a man speak Swahili and she answered him in Swahili.
From what I could make out, the guy on the other line asked if the daughter of Kuyaka was in position and she confirmed that he should take the shot.
Suddenly my radar picked up two projects coming at us at 1200 km/hr from their angle they were aiming for both me and Nova. They weren't metal so I couldn't use my magnetism so I intercepted them using electric strikes.
"Wha-AAHHHH!!" She didn't finish as zapped her with 700,000 volts of electricity causing her to the ground twitching from all the electricity in her system.
After that I felt six more projectiles shot towards us but like before I intercepted all of them.
"Come on Nova we've got a sniper on our ass!"
We began to run out of there while the sniper kept trying to shoot at us but I kept on intercepting all the projectiles. After taking a good look at them they looked like some coral spiked. From the way they spoke I guess there was some kind of tranquilizer agent in there. Maybe poison.
"Goddammit! Nova I thought you said this neighbour was safe, not a gang territory!"
"Hey just because it's not! Even if a gang tried to move in they're asses would have quickly gotten captured and ran out by heroes. Stone town is an important tourist site and they would never have high security risks."
I led us to take cover at an old crumbled house which was out of the shooter's line.
"What the hell are they these n*ggas problem!?"
"I heard them refer to you as Kuyakha's daughter so maybe they have a score to settle with your mom or something. Does she have enemies here?"
"Nah my mom isn't stationed here remember. These parts are usually looked over by Grey hippo's agency."
"Man forget it, we'll figure it out later." I took out my phone to call the police but felt a signature quickly coming at us.
I grabbed Nova's waist causing her to squeak in surprise as part of the house was blown away.
"Wow Chimzey and nice reflexes Chimzey but I could have dodged that but thanks for the save." She rested her head on my shoulder, getting her breathing under control. "Wow, I never thought about it but you're so snuggable~."
I rolled my eyes blushing as she rubbed her head on my shoulders geez what was wrong with her."Argh man shut u…"
In a quick motion I pushed her out of the as a large hand smashed from the wall almost stabbing me but after I dodged it grabbed the nap of my shirt dragging roughly me out of the room.
"Chimzey!" I heard Nova call out as I was being slammed through a wall out the house.
In a quick manoeuvre I grabbed and electrocuted my attacker causing them to grunt in pain. Taking advantage of this I grabbed the arm centering myself on the ground, twisting it and throwing the person a few meters away from me.
The person quickly got up and looked at me with a focused expression on his face.
"'Tsk' Dammit twice in one day." I cursed rotating my shoulders as I got a good look at the person
It was a man in his early forties, 6 '2 feet in height, muscular, light brown skin, bald head, pale eyes, dark stripes, wide mouth filled with rows of sharp, jagged teeth, fins on his shoulder blades. He wore sleeveless armored top that exposed his arms, black gloves, heavy-duty combat pants, utility belt with pouches, combat boots.
I'm not an expert on marine life like Danielle but I guess he has some mutant tiger shark quirk.

"Alright I take it you're in the same crew as that stalker woman and the blind sniper. So who are you guys and what do you want with my friend?"
He didn't answer my question but continued to just continue to just look at me all intense like some sort of predator stalking its prey.
Suddenly he dug, grabbed a football sized piece of rubble and tossed them at me which was obviously a diversion So I easily dodged them sensing the guy's speed behind me, he really wasn't that fast, he was about 60 km/hr so used my magnetism to control the metal coated to his fins, armour, belt, and groove knuckles to stop him in his tracks and made float in the air.
It made me feel like a force user and so shits and giggles I made a T pose while in the air.
"What kind of quirk is this!" He gritted his teeth and tried to struggle but it was no use.
"Oh so you can speak so you are going to answer me questions or keep this stoic act." He still didn't answer and continued glare at me, making me smirk. "Alright man your choice since you're strong enough to burst through walls then you're strong enough to take this probably."
2.8 million volts worth of electricity began to dance around my body and shot it at him.
"AAGGHHH!!"
He screamed as the block was lit up. I might have added a bit more juice into the attack but I wasn't going to take any chances of him getting back up. I needed to get back to Nova quickly.
'Huh. I wonder if electricity is extra effective against him.' I mused as his body fell to the ground, knocked and body smoked.
Magnetically ripping off a large piece of a metal roof of an abandoned house I wrapped it around him tight.
Alright now to find the adrenaline junkie.
I brought the hoover-board and took to the air while making sure the shark guy was floating close by.
