Saturday... A day that every student awaits. A sacred day to take a break from it all, whether academics, socializing, and keeping up appearances, to your peers and even the teachers.
Oh, how nice it is to enjoy this break, away from school and everybody. However, at Hokkyokusei High, some are not so fond of it, those who are forced to attend Saturday class because they had failed their monthly assessment exams.
"I really don't want to attend make-up classes." Mocha-san sighed heavily, thinking it was such a waste to spend her Saturday attending make-up classes.
"You should have studied more. You know?" I teasingly said, alongside her on our way to school.
"What are you doing here anyway?" Aria-san curiously pondered, why is an exam passer also heading off to school.
Smirking smugly, I told her, "He. Unlike you, I take my studies very seriously." Mocking her at the end, "Ms. who didn't see the back part."
After the name calling, "Why you..." Aria-san wanted to argue back, but it would be too immature of her to succumb to a commoner's playful teasing.
"Haha, now now" Hitomi-san deescalated the situation before Aria-san losses her temper.
As for why Hitomi-san is here as well, she volunteered to assist those who failed, which isn't surprising to me as she also volunteered last semester.
The wind blew calmly, the halls were still and quiet as there were barely any students around.
As I parted with the girls to conduct their make-up class, I head off to the library to conduct a study of my own.
I don't usually come to the library. I only decided to go here now because I'm a little bit behind on my own advanced study. How else would I conduct my secretly know the answer aloof student if not for this.
The whole library was quiet, even the student in charge at the receptionist desk didn't say a word, reading a book of their own. The sound of turning pages sliced through the quiet air, as I sat across another person, studying before I even arrived in this place.
"Shiori-senpai. How do you solve this part again?" I mindfully asked a certain senpai, handing over my notes as my fingers pointed out the dilemma I was having.
"Oh, this one is pretty easy. You just have to follow this formula and substitute the given number to x..." Shiori-senpai diligently explained to me everything that I don't understand in direct and concise way for me to easily understand.
"Hm. I still don't get it." Faced with a difficult equation, it feels like I have hit a wall with this certain question in the textbook.
As a gentle breeze passes by, Shiori-senpai walked over to my side. Pushing her hair behind her ears, she explained to me that, "To find the value of x you must..."
*I it just me, or is she being kind of close right now?* Erasing my earthly desires, I didn't think much of it and only focus on what was in front of me. The solution to the this specific equation.
My eyes lit up as I finally understood, "I see. I get it now!" i exclaimed, feeling ecstatic as I conquered another wall that is called algebra.
Moving on to another subject, Science, it was a matter of memorization rather than formula and situational questions. I really hate this type of exams, I mean science exams have a lot of identification in them and our teacher doesn't provide choices half of the time.
Normally I would just read the whole textbook a couple of times until it gets hammered to my brain, but I wish there was an easier way to memorize.
And, as if looking for an answer, my eyes trailed of to Shiori-senpai's notebook, noticing bright pink and green highlights on top of organized notes in Shiori-senpai's table.
"Shiori-senpai. Mind if I borrow your notes for a second?"
"Ah, sure. Why?" She pondered, handing over her notebook.
I placed my hand on my chin, taking a closer inspection of Shiori-senpai's. My lips curled up, saying, "Senpai's note is so organized and easy to understand. I wish my notes are as clean as this." I nodded to myself, impressed by Shiori-senpai's systematic notes.
As if hesitating for a second, "Want me to organize your notes with you? I've brought my highlighter with me." she suggested, a hint of bashfulness behind her expression.
"Really?" My face perked up and said "Thanks" in advance.
Shiori-senpai leaned closer. "The trick her is... Only highlight the important parts. You don't have to memorize everything, just key words that can trigger your memory."
One by one, Shiori-senpai and I spot all that might show up in the exams, key words that's enough to have an understanding of the subjects.
After a while, I excused myself. "Excuse me. Need to use the restroom for a moment. Brb."
"Sure," Shiori-senpai waved me goodbye, assuring us our spot.
Moments after I left, Shiori-senpai collapsed her head on the table, having a headache.
Laying her head on her arm, "I should have just slept if I knew it would turn out like this." Her headache came from sleep deprivation.
Actually, a few day ago, Shiori-senpai spotted us having a group study on her way home from school. Feeling jealous, Shiori-senpai was the one who suggested that I should study at school. Offering she would tutor me for free herself.
*I was surprised that he's already studied so far to reach materials from our last semester.*
All night Shiori-senpai was digging up her old notes to prepare for our study session. Notes from her first year she relearned now felt useless.
*Did I a least manage to look like a cute and dependable girl? ...I even leaned closer with an exposed ear, letting him sniff my premium conditioner..."
Unaware that her eyes was slowly closing, Shiori-senpai unconsciously drifts into sleep, conscious about her sex appeal to a certain chuunibyou.
Returning from the bathroom, I saw Shiori-senpai, her head resting on her arm, eyes closed, not even noticing strands of her hair had been stuck in the moisture of her lips.
*I seems that she fell asleep...* A sinister grin crept my face, seeing our student council president looking so defenseless right before my very eyes.
...
A few moments after, Shiori-senpai slowly start to open her eyes. "Looks like sleeping beauty is finally awake." I remarked, a slight grin evident in my face as Shiori-senpai's vision started to clear up, seeing me holding a book, looking so dignified.
Embarrassed by this blunder, Shiori-senpai rubbed her eyes, her lips next in case she drooled.
In a panic, she suddenly stood up, "Excuse me. I'll use the bathroom for a moment." in a rush, she excused herself.
*This is embarrassing. He saw a side of me I didn't want to show.* She fastened her phase, thinking *I hope I didn't make a weird face when I was unconcious.*
Inside the bathroom, as Shiori-senpai stared at the mirror.
"What's this?..." She discovered pink lines on her cheeks resembling that of whiskers.
To a normal person, this would have been a harmless prank. However, to Shiori-senpai, she recalled the words that she before drifting to her sleep "Only highlight thee important parts" she remembered. Her face glowed red upon the realization.
A long this time, as i was sitting alone in the library, *She must have discovered it by now.* That whiskers I drew on her face, it was payback for confiscating my sword in the entrance ceremony. She was the one who sent me the warning of permanent ban on my sword, so I went and did what I did to exact my revenge.
"Kukuku. Ku ha ha ha..."
The door slid open all of a sudden, as if it were aggressive. There I found Shiori-senpai making a fierce expression staring directly at me.
"S-Senpai. You're back." I greeted her, unsure of what is that face she is currently making.
"Sorry. But I got to go." grabbing her things from the table, she put it all in her bag and exited the library with haste on her steps.
*I can't even look at him properly,* Shiori-senpai tried her best to look normal in front of me, but she was too embarrassed to say a word so she ran away to recollect her composure.
*She won't even look at me...* I thought to myself, thinking that I might have offended her somehow. That, *Maybe I went too far...*
I really messed up big time, huh...
