Chapter 5 - My First Job in the New World

Anthony Carter now had fifty million dollars in his men five minutes later walking out into the courtyard.

Get the money, get the money, you drunken fool, said William to the drunk man in a quite polite way.

He, the drunkard, left the house to the courtyard with a sceptical look and the bodyguards of Anthony Carter were taking dozens of boxes that were crowded with U.S. bills. This caused him near to questioning whether he existed.

"Holy shit! You guys are really buying? Is all this money mine?"

"It's all yours!" Anthony was flabbergasted. He had already been nervous enough by going to see William, but now he had to cope with this drunkard too.

Anthony went ahead to give the drunkard a luxury car and send him away after he signed a housing agreement with him.

Master, where have you... where have you been these years? When all was complete, Anthony with his faltering step, went up to William and then prostrated himself before him. Yesterday I had heard you had been disrespected by the young Taylor, and I went up the mountain at once, but had not time to arrive before you departed. I suppose you did not wish to see us.

William smiling slightly looked at Anthony. People of Anthony were there on the mountain, though there was none of them to do anything.

It was a kind of an overpowering sensation that Anthony experienced when William looked at him, as though he could not conceal anything he had in mind before William.

"That's enough. This is the reason why I have summoned you all here to-day. You are not what you used to be, William, as master and servant. I have nothing to pay you just now because you have purchased me this residence. I will not take it back, what thou hast at this time, and hast no need to be worried.

Anthony and the rest of the faces transformed, and the other four also fell on their knees before William.

Master, you gave us everything we possess at this moment. Only mention the word, and we can give it all to you. I will always be your servant." The suit man was an emotional speaker.

His name was Charles Turner who is a medical god all over the world. He was nicknamed by many as a living miracle doctor but he was well aware that he had learned very little tricks by William back in the day.

Charles Turner was the owner of dozens of medical companies and numerous medical equipment factory now, and his assets already amounted to a trillion dollars.

The other four followed suit as Charles Turner said this. Even now they were unable to see through William. Indeed the better they heard about him, the less comprehensible William appeared. Otherwise, they would now have already ordered William to be put to death.

No never-lasting banquet, William said shaking his head. Give me what I want, and do not seek me any more. I don't want to see you again."

Anthony, repressing his excitement, said, What do you mean by what you want? He was now rich enough to compete with nations. In case William really wished to recover all that he possessed in a single word, he would have nothing left to do but to fight William to the very last. It relieved him, however, with the words of William.

"A driver's license. And, I would like to attend school and educate myself about this novel age. William noted their evoked expressions. He knew what they were about to think, "Don't think of anything to worry about. I don't want to be disturbed. In future, when you see me outside, be sure to pretend you do not know me, otherwise...

He did not complete the sentence, and there was no necessity to do it.

They might as well be those servants who were standing at the feet of William, how great they were.

"Understood!" There was a unanimous agreement between Anthony and the rest. So there was no betrayal because this was what William wanted!

It was simply the process of buying him a house, acquiring a driving license and attending school was even more insignificant.

But Charles, timorously inquired, Master, I do not think that you are not familiar with this era of time.

Fifty years, I said, I told him, I have slept;

Well, in that case, you still require somebody to serve you, said Charles in a hurry. Would you like me to ask my child to take him to school? Just as a companion?"

Some may also be afraid of William and even wish to kill him, yet Charles Turner had considered what other people had not.

What advantages did I have in being with William? Didn't these old fellows know?

Anthony soon regained himself and said, Master, Charles is right. It is impossible to imagine how this era has transformed. A lot of things cannot be acquired in school. I also have a granddaughter aged 18 years....

"No need! Then, have somebody send me the driver license later. Now, leave." The face of William grew cold and he did not want to speak to them any more and went directly to the house.

The old five men looked at one another, and shook their heads. Then we will take our leave, Master, then we will take our farewell, said Anthony loudly.

When he said this, the five fell to knees and three times kowtowed at the doorway, meaning the termination of a relationship between their master and themselves as servants.

Once in the house, William started cleaning it up ready to launch into his new life.

When he stepped out of the house, all the leaves and rubbish in the yard had been raked up. He sat in the chair a moment or two, and saw that he was penniless now.

Beginning afresh was a process with which he was quite familiar.

In retrospect, when he awoke up, he would on occasions get a job regardless of what that job was as long as it would sustain him.

And as to the days of being rich, he had had plenty of them but they tasted like nothing now.

He had been walking extensively in the streets, and was nearly blinded by the assorted stores. There were lots of things that were not heard or seen. He also had a lot of characters that he did not know and could only make assumptions about.

But due to this, he began to get interested.

Without sympathy to most of the things, he detested a boring life.

"Boss, are you hiring... waiters?" It was not until the evening that William began seeking a job since he knew at least one thing, school time was in the day. He would have to get a job in the evening in case he felt like working and studying at the same time.

So, he found a bar.

The girl on the front desk turned her eyes towards William and told him, Are you applying? Just wait and I will call the manager.

After a little, a man dressed in a suit approached, and inquired, "Are you old enough?

William nodded, "Twenty."

"Twenty? You look quite mature. Do you apply to become a waiter? Salaries start at 1800 dollars and the days off are 6. You are required to give a one day notice in case of taking leave. Selling alcohol is a commission work. Should you be interested, a copy of your information will be given me. The manager believed that William was well mannered, maybe the rich ladies in the establishment would enjoy him.

I will come over to you tomorrow, William, I said. Then he realized that he knew nothing about photocopying and commissions. He was an idol without someone to instruct him.
