The Knight waits patiently for the other monsters, hiding away in the shadows and preparing for their arrival. As he waited, he'd look back at his blade and did some practice, notably in what he saw from the children. How Harvard was able to launch his own hand to clash and draw blood in order to exploit its weakness, how Solomon used the Shadows as a wall rather than a proper surface or door to go from one to another. In that sense, he'd let his body flow freely with his swings, letting them take the same lunge, using the shadows to solidify his position and extend the blade further, before having them dip in the black surface and appear on the other side.
In a way, he was learning from them.
"Eustaaaaaaace..." A gravely voice rose, glowing eyes appearing from behind him. As he'd look back, he'd see the beast lunge out, its maw opening wide to try and bite into the Knight, blocked by the blade and shifting it to draw such blood from the mouth. Its massive fangs, however, proved enough to clash back, spitting it out and keeping a strong distance. A dark blue wolf, chains wrapped across its hind and front legs, runes to act as its spine. Its eyes and mouth emit a white light, like lightning ready to strike down, its jaw aged and weary, as if it has endured millennia. "There you are... You've failed your duties, haven't you?"
"Far from it... we have a chance." Eustace replied, as the helm shined brightly amidst the new dawn, taking up a stance with his blade shimmering, his eyes peering through the armor, showing his new conviction.
"Is that so...? You found someone?"
"Five children, at the most. One of them is wielding a deck of cards. He's our chance..."
"Helsing!?" Another groan from below, as the earth breaks and a hand reaches out, attempting to sneak attack and slash into his neck. Because such shadows were made, Eustace was quick on allowing the hand to phase through, reaching towards the wolf instead, an instinctual reaction by the beast to bite into and rip it out. A loud wail can be heard as it retracted the arm, but the injury remains the same. A serpentine-like figure, dyed in black and grey, as if he was a living architect. A Monster with a snake-like hood to cover his face, a singular eye peering through, as his lower half is melted into the beast. His arms were cracked, damaged, yet it would emit a small glow to indicate the energy he has stored from his ally's attack, jaws of teeth stretching across the snake's body to his very shoulders. "What is he doing here!? What brought him into this blasted Circle? Did that man said NOTHING?!"
"You know him?"
"I RAISED HIM! When his Father and Mother were away, I had to step in and care for the boy! What in fresh hell happened!?" Even Eustace was surprised with this new knowledge. The Monsters assigned to buy time, the Chain Breaker and the World Eater.
Fenrir and Jormungan.
The last thing he expected was for the latter to actually have history on one of them. "I've... yet to have known this, really. All I gathered was that they were staying over here... However! They are still willing to help with our cause! I have already given them information regarding-"
"That doesn't change 'why', Eustace! If anything happened to him, lord KNOWS what would result of EVERYONE who'd let such a death happen! Ichabon's a very patient man. I'm not!" Jormungan got up close to the Knight, staring down and weighing his soul, seeing how much he was willing to take such a risk.
"If it helps... It does mean that you have an advantage neither of us have. What is the boy like, Serpent?" Fenrir questioned, resting its body as it doesn't have to worry about needing to confront him.
"Like hell I'd tell you! You bit my hand, beast!"
"Well excuse me, you were about to take my tongue!"
"ENOUGH!" Eustace shouted, bringing much ire to the crowd, the populace overhearing them, the guards immediately on their way to investigate. Harvard and the others, meanwhile, were visible to the three in the other side, trying to get as much information as they can. "There. Those five. Those are the ones you keep a lookout-"
"IT IS HIM! I can recognize his puffy hair anywhere! He seems a lot more fashionable than I remembered. Is that a new suit?" Jormungan peered over, after doing such evaluations. Eustace has never imagined someone would be so invested at seeing such a child again, less so than in this state. He'd imagine he was going to be struck down by their might, not having a family reunion. Fenrir howled as it would notice the children, being just as excited.
"IS THAT MY DAUGHTER!? My dear!! My Sweet! My little Candy Apple! She's so lively today, as well! I didn't expect her to be on two feet again! God is good, God is great~!" It chanted, signaling another parent that has long since lost such a child away.
"You too??"
"Of course! As her father, I had to give everything for what it's worth. Even my own life, if it meant her recovery is guaranteed! I knew the doctors in Stoken was a surefire chance! I just hope she isn't mad at me for faking my-"
"Will you two focus!?" Eustace's words were a trigger, as the two beasts looked over and made quick work of the Knight, letting the energy stored by Fenrir's bite be casted through Jormungan's body, quickly disabling the magic from the Knight of Shadows by 'eating' the shadows around and within the clay-like earth, trapping him within the beast's sides.
"YOU are to keep quiet! You've done well giving your message, but with how our children are in here, questions have to be answered. Surely there's a reason for why they stumbled into this part of the Circle. It's unsafe here!"
"He facetanked God's light when he was trying to fight me. They are more than ca-"
"HE SURVIVED GOD!? THAT'S MY BOY!!!!!" His roar echoed across the sky, immediately triggering the guards and causing them to attack, his body quickly being barraged by projectiles, slowly but surely 'eating' at the energy when it gets absorbed through his skin, his figure growing more and more. Fenrir, meanwhile, would latch such chains around Jormungan, taking in the energy and letting his mouth break through the spells themselves, a blast of light that catches the eye of everyone around. The children were quick to notice the sign, the beasts that loomed over the Kingdom. Their investigation is halted, for the time being.
"I hate Magic..." Eustace mumbled as he'd try to free himself, knowing fully well he's going to be attacked again at this rate.
