Chapter 619 - Chapter 619: Bullheaded

Meanwhile, on topside, Zazel would brandish his sigils and face Mawkin directly, confused as to who he was or why he wanted them. He even turned to Stolas for any knowledge, but even he was just as lost, shrugging and slightly backing away to let them have their space. "Do I... know you?" The demon asked, genuine in his voice, as he was hoping to aim such chaos at the King and not a random guest who was caught under crossfire. Mawkin, however, remained silent. The Demons from above watched on as the Dhampir took on a stance and rushed ahead. Seir and Aym were quick to come down, blessing and hexing the respective sides, so that when he threw such a strike, it'd end up coming in direct contact with one of his sigils and have it burst into flames, conveniently lighting the straw that stuck out of him and forced him to roll over and put it out. He wanted to scream, but he kept himself quiet, for he knew giving away such emotions would leave him open. "Seriously, who are you??" Zazel asked again, with silence being met once more.

It was starting to get uncomfortable with how quiet he was after presenting himself, more so when he keeps rushing in blindly, as he'd let Sabnock take the initiative instead, simply planting his foot down and let the clay flooring warp and ripple, forcing Mawkin to leap, only to be backhanded back on ground. Even with such a strike, the Dhampir simply got back up and kept going. Focalor was next, merely wrapping around his legs and tripping him over, dunking him in a puddle and attempting to submerge him once it got influenced by the Demon's magic. He'd swim back up once he realize he was let go, yet he merely charged again. For every chance he got close towards the Demon, a Goetia would step in and merely swat him back like a fly, pushing him away. It got to a point where Zazel simply dropped his markings and merely watched as he struggled to even get past the ones summoned before him. Something was not right, yet when he tried to look up at the King and see such answers, he was met with nothing. Then, Mawkin spoke. "Why are you looking up at him? Don't you see the enemy is in front of you?" He'd demand, yet even in his words, he was doubting himself, something that the Demon caught on quickly.

"I... really don't think you should be doing this. You're not our main problem, here. Just leave and we got this-" Zazel tried to answer, even being polite about it and seeing if one of his summons were willing to escort him, yet the Dhampir's voice came like a gunshot.

"ABSOLUTELY NOT! I was told to prove myself here, and that's what I'm doing!" His interruption would be matched by his magic being casted, quickly growing out such straw and blasting it down in a cone, snatching two Goetia's in the process. Of course, such Straw became a non-threat as soon as Asmodeus stepped in and allowed his Dragon to incinerate the demons, letting them bask in such fire, unaffected. The straw, meanwhile, would be nothing but ash, though the two demons did felt such a strain in their bodies once they were gone, as if someone was tearing off their skin. Mawkin recognized the effects immediately and kept going on his assault, now balling up such straw and tossing it directly towards Zazel. The Demon backed away, allowing Ronove to catch it with his flute, spinning it like a bo staff to send it elsewhere, watching as it burst and nearly touching the little royal by his tail. To say Zazel was impressed was an understatement, though it still puzzles him as to why he's doing all of this.

He wouldn't be given an answer as Mawkin goes at them again, now using the scattered straw to pull over such demons by their feet to trip them up, preventing them from interrupting his attack, all for Eligos to place himself as the Demon's own trap to snag and pull him back away, letting Asmodeus burn the straw down again. It was like a coliseum of bodies, how they circled around and stared at the Dhampir, awaiting another response, another performance, another shot towards their ruler. Atop the castle, Wyvios looked on in dread. Even he knew that such was a fleeting attempt. Any showcases of his 'worth' was making him feel borderline ill-effective in terms of holding power over such newcomers. He, too, was struggling on why Mawkin kept throwing himself at the lion's den and not picking up the hint to change strategy, even assuming he must've been some sort of masochist with how he was being tossed around.

He tried to look at his face, still stern and controlled. Such calmness was starting to make him feel sick, as if he doesn't notice he was ruining his land's reputation. Stolas was quick to notice over and try to shoot a pot shot against his head, but as the star fired, a brief rush ahead. Caught mid-shot, right at his chest, his hands burning at the stellar object, letting his body flow and spin around, winding it up before throwing the star right back at Zazel, forcing the Goetia's to step in and take the hit, with Sabnock blocking and having his metal melt away, mingled with the clay. His conviction was right there, right as he was done tossing his life away to the Devil's Hands. The little demon couldn't believe that Mawkin would do such a thing, much less to Wyvios of all things. "I am fighting you. You are not aiming for anyone else until my challenge has been done." He'd declare, planting his feet, ready for another charge ahead, only this time with his straw sticking out of his body.

Zazel was getting nervous, bullets beginning to sweat under his own composure. There was something definitely wrong here, but he can't figure it out. He doesn't know what is this farmer's deal. He doesn't know anything here.

He doesn't know.
