Chapter 512 - Chapter 509

Clip-clop, clip-clop…

The carriage entered the vicinity of Sedona City, and the group soon arrived at the city gate, looking at Sedona City's dilapidated city walls.

"This is Sedona City?" Lucy asked, astonished. The crumbling earthen walls before her were far too shabby, a stark contrast to what she had imagined.

Sedona City was probably the worst city she had ever seen. Suddenly, she understood why beastkin would come here. The noble in charge was either completely incompetent or an honest and simple man.

"Miss, you'll know once you go inside," Jeffrey said with a hearty laugh, leading his men into Sedona City.

Lucy paused for a moment, then said to the leopard-eared girl, "Jones, let's go in too."

Clip-clop, clip-clop...

Jones drove the carriage into Sedona City. The two of them were stunned by the scene before them. The main street, wider than even the one in the Royal Capital, was bustling with people, and the houses were neat and uniform. Compared to the city walls, it was truly a world of extremes.

"Hey, hey, how are the measurements coming along? How wide is it over there?"

"It's five meters high. That area needs to be excavated first. We can leave a section of the city wall to allow people to pass."

"No, the City Lord said not to leave any part of the wall here. The new city wall has already been planned."

"Then what do we do with all this dirt? It has to be moved away too. Might as well just leave it for now."

"..."

Lucy and Jones listened blankly to the argument coming from not far away, where several white-haired old men were shouting and debating.

"Let's go, let's find a place to stay first," Lucy sighed. The lord of this Sedona City was truly remarkable.

"Mmm," Jones responded coolly, her red eyes scanning the flow of people walking on the main street. She saw many beastkin in the crowd, laughing and talking with the humans.

This scene gave her a strange, illusory feeling, as if she had come to another world. Compared to the beastkin in other cities, who were whipped by humans and carried heavy loads... the contrast with what she saw now was so immense that it left her a little dazed.

"Huh? Drunken Night? Since it's a tavern, it should have lodging, right?"

Lucy saw the many people coming and going from the Drunken Night and turned to the leopard-eared girl, "Jones, this tavern should be the place to stay."

"Mmm." Jones came back to her senses and drove the carriage to the entrance of the Drunken Night. An attendant immediately ran out.

"Ladies, are you here for a meal? Or for lodging?" The attendant asked politely.

"Lodging, and a meal," Lucy said faintly.

"Please follow me, I will take you to check in first," The attendant said quickly.

"Alright." Lucy nodded, and with Jones, followed the attendant into the Drunken Night. They were shocked by the scene inside. They had never seen so many people dining at the same time.

It was around two in the afternoon. Because Lucas had declared a holiday, many people were having a late lunch.

"The City Lord is too benevolent, actually giving us a four-day holiday, and with pay!"

"I heard it's for some kind of festival. Today is the day for preparations. Haven't you noticed they're already building a wooden stage in the square? Something big must be about to be announced."

"Did today's newspaper say anything?"

"It doesn't seem to have mentioned any festival. Maybe it's just a rumor. We'll have to wait for tomorrow's paper."

"..."

Lucy raised an eyebrow. As she passed by a dining table, she heard several commoners discussing the holiday, which made her even more curious.

Jones, however, was frowning. She had been observing the beastkin and found that they were all talking and laughing, getting along very well with the humans. This she couldn't quite understand. Did these beastkin not know how hypocritical humans were?

Tap, tap, tap...

The two followed the attendant to the third floor of the Drunken Night. As they climbed the stairs, they saw a counter where two girls were sitting, one of whom was a beastkin from the Ox tribe.

"Please register these two guests for check-in," The attendant said quickly.

"Of course," The receptionist replied.

"May I ask if you two would like one room? Or two rooms?" The ox beastkin asked.

"One will be fine," Said Lucy.

"Please fill this out," The ox beastkin said, taking out two forms and handing them over along with two pens.

"Okay." Lucy and Jones quickly filled them out, using false names.

"Your room is number 112. Here is the key to the room." The ox beastkin handed over the key with a smile and chuckled, "If you're hungry, you can dine in a private room on the second floor. Tonight, you can go to the square in front of the castle. There will be a performance there."

"Oh, okay." Lucy took the key, which was just a flat piece of iron, much to her surprise.

Lucy led Jones to room 112. They stared blankly at the door, then she raised her hand to look at the piece of iron. How was she supposed to open the door with this?

"..." Jones rolled her eyes, reached out and took the key, inserted it into the slot on the doorknob, and tried turning it both left and right before finally opening the door.

Upon entering, they found a room with a very different style of decoration. The two looked around the room in amazement, finding everything incredibly fascinating.

The decor of the lodgings on the third floor of the Drunken Night was all modeled after modern Earth-style furnishings, which is why it gave off such a novel and refreshing feeling.

"This is amazing! This room is so wonderful!" Lucy exclaimed in awe, looking left and right, then taking off her shoes and jumping up and down on the bed.

"Not bad," Jones praised, a rare compliment from her. The room's decor was very much to her taste—simple and clear.

"Phew..." Lucy, tired from jumping, sighed and lay spread-eagled on the bed. She turned her head to look at the leopard-eared girl standing by the window and said slowly, "Jones, do you think there's really a doctor in Sedona City who can cure my father?"

"It's difficult," Jones replied coolly. She could see that the King of Siacan was already old, his life force dwindling. Even if they found a doctor who could cure him, they might not make it back in time. Besides, there were people who didn't want them to return.
