Dinosaurs were simply too mysterious for the people of this world, so they naturally tended to speculate in the direction of unknown gods, like celestial beings.
"The age of gods?" Lucas was taken aback for a moment, then shook his head. "There are no gods in this world."
He would not allow beliefs in gods to arise. That would lead to people being easily swayed. In the event of any major disaster, these 'monsters and demons' would be fabricated and used to deceive the ignorant commoners.
There were too many such incidents in history: the Yellow Turban Rebellion in China, the dark ages in the Western Europe, and so on, all used unknown gods to deceive people.
"No gods?" Annie was stunned, blinking her brown eyes innocently. Then she came to her senses, pointed at the Triceratops fossil, and said eagerly, "But there are such huge ancient beasts? How can there be no gods?"
"Right." Amelia nodded her small head. She wondered if the dragon her sister went to kill was this kind of dinosaur. But father had said that this dinosaur was from sixty million years ago, so how could it still be alive?
"You're overthinking it." Lucas rolled his eyes. Why did the existence of giant beasts have to mean the existence of gods? How were the two even connected?
"Really none?" Annie asked, unwilling to give up, her fox ears twitching constantly.
"None. Gods and such are all things that people have imagined," Lucas said with certainty.
"But if there are no gods, where did these ancient beasts come from?" Annie asked another question.
"Annie, where do you think we came from?" Lucas retorted. How would he know where dinosaurs came from?
"I was born from my mother," Annie replied immediately.
"Then what about your mother? Your grandmother? Where did they all come from?" Lucas asked with a slight smile.
"This..." Annie was at a loss for words. She knew what the Master meant. How did the beastkin come into being? Who the hell knew?
"You don't know? Do you think the gods created us?" Lucas asked calmly.
"Pro-probably not," Annie said hesitantly. She would not accept that the beastkin were created.
"All things have a spirit. The birth of a race is through evolution, just like parents combining to have children, it's a little bit of optimizing genes, becoming adapted to new environments and evolving," Lucas said softly.
"Master, I don't understand." Annie shook her head in disappointment. What the Master was saying was too profound.
"It's okay if you don't understand. I'll teach you in the future." Lucas reached out and rubbed the fox-eared girl's head. The concept of evolution was too advanced for the people of this world.
"Lord Lucas, in the Forest of Life, the habitat of us elves, there are many fossils like this," Elisa said in a low voice. She felt it was okay to say it, as she couldn't go back to the Forest of Life anyway.
"Oh? How many?" Lucas raised an eyebrow. He had thought this was the first place where dinosaur fossils were discovered.
"A lot, probably thousands of skeletons," Elisa said after thinking for a moment.
"So many?" Lucas was surprised. For so many dinosaur fossils to be in one place, was there something that attracted them there? Or were they forced together?
"Yes, but unfortunately it is now buried in ice and snow," Elisa said with a hint of disappointment.
"If we have a chance in the future, let's go and see," Lucas said with a light laugh. He really wanted to go and see when he had the time. Elisa twitched the corner of her mouth, knowing that Lord Lucas was comforting her. How could they possibly go back to such a cold place?
"Master, what should we do with this Triceratops?" Mina flicked her cat tail and scanned the surroundings. "Should we transport it back to Sedona City?"
"Of course we have to transport it back to Sedona City. This is a priceless treasure." Lucas smiled. He wanted to open a dinosaur museum. A ticket for one silver coin, he was sure that many curious nobles would be willing to pay to see it.
"I will immediately arrange for people to come and transport it," Mina said with a serious face. Her idea was to hide it in the inner treasury. After all, these were the bones of an ancient beast from tens of millions of years ago, which were simply priceless.
"Chris, explore the surroundings. There's definitely more than just this one dinosaur fossil," Lucas turned his head and instructed the Wolf Pack team.
Where there were dinosaur fossils, there was usually not just one, but at least two or more.
"Yes." The members of the Wolf Pack team took out their entrenching tools and began to explore the surroundings.
Half an hour later, a total of twelve dinosaur fossils were found, large and small. Lucas saw the fossil of a Tyrannosaurus Rex among them, which made him suspect that this pit might be a volcanic crater, and the strangely shaped rocks around it might be solidified volcanic lava.
"This ancient beast is too big." Annie stood in front of the Tyrannosaurus Rex's fossilized head, her face turning a little pale as she looked at its sharp teeth. What kind of existence was this beast when it was alive?
"How did they die? Was there anything that could kill them?" Amelia was more concerned about how the dinosaurs died. She wondered if her sister had failed against such a beast.
"A natural disaster is more likely," Lucas guessed, though he wasn't very sure.
"A natural disaster?" Mina's eyes flickered, and she asked in a low voice, "Master, can we kill this kind of beast?"
"Of course we can," Lucas said with great certainty. As long as they created a composite steel crossbow, which was to apply the technology of the composite bow to the crossbow, they could easily kill a dinosaur.
"Father? Can we really, really kill it?" Amelia asked, her green eyes wide.
"Yes, it's not difficult to kill this kind of beast," Lucas nodded. There were many ways to kill a dinosaur, such as the powerful anesthetic from the research department.
"..." Amelia pursed her lips. She really wanted to go and ask her sister right now if the dragon they were hunting was this kind of beast.
"Annie, transfer twenty hot air balloons from the research department to transport these fossils," Lucas ordered. The dinosaur museum needed to be opened as soon as possible, as it was also a good way to attract people.
"Yes," Annie said seriously.
