"So many beastkin," Parkin marveled as he walked. He had never seen so many beastkin before—or rather, it was incredibly rare to see so many beastkin and humans living together.
"Over in the Yadian Kingdom, is there a lot of discrimination against beastkin?" Nancy asked casually.
"Well..." Parkin was at a loss for words. Aren't beastkin just slaves?
But he didn't dare say it out loud. If he angered these beastkin right now, he was afraid he'd be torn to pieces alive.
"I knew it..." Nancy sneered and stopped talking. She could understand everything she needed to know just from his attitude.
"Our Yadian Kingdom has many dwarves, and we are very friendly with them," Parkin said, having no choice but to change the subject.
"Dwarves? They're just a shrunken version of humans," Obi said indifferently.
"Cough, cough, cough..." Parkin choked. Who actually calls dwarves that?
"Dwarves? I've never even seen a dwarf," Ayesha said in surprise.
"Ayesha, there's a dwarf right over there," Nancy suddenly spoke up, pointing to a nearby shop.
"Hmm?" Ayesha followed her gaze, her eyes brightening slightly. She quickly trotted over and called out, "Annie!"
"Ayesha!!" Annie looked up, pleasantly surprised as she watched the cow-horned girl run over, her large breasts bouncing up and down. However, her face darkened a second later, and she muttered, "Big-boobed cow."
"Annie, are you guys out shopping?" Ayesha's eyes stared fixedly at the small person beside her, completely ignoring the lion-eared girl and the monkey-eared girl.
"Yeah. Let me introduce you," Annie nodded, gesturing to the people next to her. "This is Euphy; she's a dwarf. And these two—this is my eldest sister Perry, the beastkin chief you negotiated with at Riverden City last time."
"Huh?" Ayesha was stunned, asking hesitantly, "Biological sisters?"
"Yes," Annie nodded emphatically.
"That's way too much of a coincidence," Ayesha marveled.
"Yeah," Perry smiled bitterly. Who could have thought that the people they had been negotiating with actually all knew each other?
"Hello, I'm Ayesha," Ayesha greeted Euphy, adding, "I'm a cow beastkin."
"Hello," Euphy replied in a tiny voice. She had been dragged out by Annie today to shop and relax.
"Ayesha, how was it over at Bella's place?" Annie asked curiously.
"Not good, it's terrible over there," Ayesha sighed, speaking bluntly. "It's way worse than Sedona City. Everyone is really lazy and just waits around to be fed."
"..." Nancy and Obi, who had caught up from behind, could only smile bitterly. Their territory simply couldn't compare to Sedona City; it couldn't even match up to a kingdom's capital.
"So, was the saltpeter transported here?" Annie glanced at the people behind the cow-horned girl.
"It's here. We brought seventy-three carriages full of saltpeter," Ayesha said seriously.
"Then take them to the castle to report in," Annie said calmly.
"Alright," Ayesha nodded. Before leaving, she took one more look at Euphy; she never expected to see a dwarf in Sedona City.
Step, step, step...
"To think there are dwarves here as well," Parkin sighed in amazement.
"Dwarves really are short," Obi stated flatly.
"You absolutely must not say that in front of a dwarf, otherwise they'll take it as discrimination, and it will draw their hostility," Parkin warned.
"Is that so," Obi nodded, making a mental note of it.
Step, step, step...
Ayesha ignored them and walked briskly all the way to the castle, forcing Parkin to jog just to keep up.
"Miss Ayesha," The soldiers at the wall gates called out.
"Mm," Ayesha nodded, leading the three of them into the castle. When they reached the central courtyard, a maid came over to inform them to head to the reception room.
The four of them sat down, and tea and pastries were served.
Footsteps echoed...
Not long after, Lucas arrived with Mina.
" Master! Mina! Long time no see," Ayesha called out happily.
"You've gotten a bit tanner," Lucas chuckled lightly. He noticed that the cow-horned girl hadn't changed much, other than her skin being a bit darker.
"From the sun," Ayesha said, scratching the back of her head.
"And who might this be?" Lucas turned his head to look at the unfamiliar old man.
"Master, this is Parkin. We saved him halfway here. He's from the Yadian Kingdom and wants to preach our way," Ayesha gave a brief introduction.
"The Yadian Kingdom? Preaching?" Lucas's eyes narrowed slightly. He scanned Parkin and asked, "What religion?"
"The Divine Lord's Religion. Our great Divine Lord resides in the Divine Heavenly Kingdom," Parkin said with a serious face.
"What are your teachings?" Lucas asked curiously. This was his first time encountering a religious faith in this world.
"Serve the Divine Lord and you will receive blessings... cough, cough, cough... be spared from hunger and disease, and expel evil energy... cough, cough, cough..." Parkin started coughing halfway through his sentence, breaking into two fits of coughing.
"It seems Your Excellency Parkin's evil energy hasn't been expelled yet," Lucas said, sitting in the main seat and quietly observing Parkin's pale face.
"This..." Parkin was at a loss for words, but quickly added, "My divine medicine was completely drunk by someone else."
"It's best to be more careful. If evil energy enters the body and isn't dealt with quickly, something bad will happen," Lucas said, the corners of his mouth turning up in a smirk.
"Thank you for the reminder," Parkin replied nonchalantly.
