... Blake's perspective ...
The buildings around us started to explode.
The explosions were the best distraction for us.
We took that opportunity to run to the nearest wall to run away from the base.
"We will make it!" Mallory said exalting happiness from her exhausted body.
"Jin, prepare to bring Mallory to the other side of the wall, I will hold them down while you go and come to take me," I ordered without being distracted by the small hope of surviving.
Jin then nodded with head and positioned himself near Mallory while running.
However, while we were running, a missile hit the floor near our feet and an explosion took place on our backs.
The explosion sent us flying to the nearest wall.
Their people above the wall pointed machine guns at us and more soldiers wearing those fire-resistant clothes surrounded us again.
However, this time one of them was holding a bazooka.
He probably was the one who just shot us.
Mallory and Jin where burns all over their bodies from the explosion, on the other hand, I may not have suffered too many injuries from the explosion, but I was already exhausted.
Jin was already laid down unconscious on the wall's side, while Mallory was sitting down on the floor with her back on the wall.
Mallory may still be conscious, but her body was so injured that she didn't have the strength to stand up anymore.
The soldier with a bazooka was recharging.
I stood up and stood in front of Mallory and Jin.
Since I am the only one left to fight, I will die fighting to the end while protecting my friends.
Then I looked past the soldiers and found Ethan and Sasha looking at us worryingly.
When I remembered the strength of Ethan's cursed power, some hope appeared in my mind again.
But, then I realized, that it was meaningless. Ethan wasn't strong enough to save all of us. It would be best to save Sasha and himself, otherwise, the five of us would end up dead.
I looked closely at Ethan's face and realized that he probably thought the exact same thing.
This look of helplessly but being unable to help me...
This scene made me feel a Deja Vu. It is as if a similar scene happened before. But when was that? It is something to do with Ethan, but did I even meet him before the military?
I was awakened by a missile from a bazooka that passed me extremely fast on my side.
Did the soldier missed me?
Then the explosion took place behind me, and I remembered who were behind me.
I slowly turned my body to see the situation.
While turning, my mind was racing to find any possibility for the both of them to survive after being hit by a bazooka head-on.
It might be impossible... But I definitely can't accept their death before my own. I didn't even have the chance to fight to save them.
The scene left me perplexed.
I could only see the waist down part, all burned, from Mallory. Some pointy bones were spread on the floor together with other body parts from both Jin and the waist-up part from Mallory.
Their faces were simply unrecognizable.
Then, two broken elk-like horns fell from the sky to the floor in front of me.
I looked at this scene and my mind couldn't accept it.
I didn't even react.
How can I be so unfaithful to my friends?
Now it is not a desperate fight to survive anymore. It is entirely for revenge!
A surge of disbelief and anger grew inside me. I don't know from where, but my power filled and recharged.
I could feel all the cells in my body working together to control and strengthen my power.
It was turning into a stronger version of itself.
I heard another missile coming to my back, I then controlled the fire from the last missile to forcibly activate the one coming in mid-air.
After the activation, I controlled the surge of fire and spread it to explode near all the soldiers surrounding me.
The soldier with the machine guns on the wall then started to shoot me, but I wasn't in the same place when the trigger was pulled.
Just after blowing up the surrounding soldiers, I created much more fire than I could in my hands and threw it to the floor causing it to impulsion me upward.
I was at the wall's height and burned to death all the soldiers with machine guns ruthlessly from the sky.
While burning them, my conscience cleaned up a bit from that surge of anger, and I realized that this was the best opportunity to save at least Ethan and Sasha.
I may not have been able to save Jin and Mallory, but my death definitely won't be useless.
"COME QUICK, ETHAN!" I then screamed with all my might.
The power surging in my cells made me feel invincible.
I continued to burn to death all the soldiers while dodging the bullets in mid-air.
Ethan and Sasha were running the fastest they could without even looking to their sides at this part of the wall I had cleaned.
However, the moment they got near the wall. A helicopter appeared flying from inside the enemy's base.
Inside the helicopter, there was a machine gun much bigger than the ones on top of the walls.
I quickly tried to react and use my fire to attack the helicopter. But, when I realized the machine gun was already shooting at me.
I looked down and saw so many holes in my body that I couldn't understand how I was still thinking.
Then I looked at Ethan, and that helpless face was extremely familiar, the Deja Vu happened again.
Oh, I remember, he was that boy...
I thought he was a normal human since he was dressed in a school uniform at that time.
Seeing the helpless face but being unable to help from a normal human to a cursed blood made me feel like there was still some hope to society.
In the end, he was a cursed blood pretending to be a normal human.
Our society really is hopeless...
