Eizan PoV
The castle's nursery was quiet except for the soft sounds of breathing and the occasional creak of the rocking chair. Kira sat with Lucia cradled against her chest, humming an old Kuroyuki lullaby under her breath. Eijiro was sprawled on the rug with a book, pretending to read while he kept one eye on his little sister. Kina had fallen asleep next to him halfway through her "lion patrol," her plushie clutched tight in her arms.
I leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, watching them. For a moment the weight of everything — the cracking sky, the coming war, the visions that still clawed at the edges of my mind — felt distant.
I turned and saw Vadim's kids. Tsuna was watching Diego, while Nora was trying to get a look at what my son was reading.
"Can I borrow that?" Nora asked, pointing at the book Eijiro was holding.
"No, this is my special knight storybook. It has cool heroes in it," Eijiro replied, pouting.
