Chapter 825 - Chapter 825 : More Accurately , His Adoptive Father

Gu Nian's lips curled slightly, realizing the absence of curtains was likely to prevent her from using them to escape.

She tread lightly to the window, hiding behind the wall beside it. She didn't want to risk being caught by peeking outside recklessly.

Soon enough, Gu Nian discovered she had been overly cautious.

Outside the window, there lay a roaring deep sea.

Gu Nian hadn't expected to find herself inside a castle. No wonder the room was so high; only a castle could achieve such heights.

She couldn't help but mock herself—although she hadn't had the chance to stay in the castle Chu Zhaoyang had originally booked, she was now fulfilling a dream here. It was a pity, though, considering how much effort Chu Zhaoyang had put into booking that castle.

Unworried about being seen, Gu Nian boldly stood by the window.

She tried for a long time but couldn't open the locked window. However, she wasn't surprised; whoever had silently brought her here wouldn't make such basic mistakes in the room.

Unable to open the window, Gu Nian could only stand there, shifting left and right to survey her surroundings.

She hadn't anticipated the castle would be perched on a cliff.

It resembled scenes one might find in a suspense film.

The castle was tall and large; from her vantage point, she could barely see both ends and the pointed spires.

The drab gray stones gave an eerie feeling, blending almost seamlessly with the cliff. From the cliff's angle, it extended upwards, making the already tall castle seem even higher, as if it were at the mercy of roaring, toothy waves.

Under the gloomy, overcast sky and amidst the roaring waves, Gu Nian felt increasingly suffocated.

She knew she couldn't hide in this room forever.

Whoever had captured her, she would have to face them sooner or later.

However, she hadn't expected it to be so soon.

Just as this thought crossed her mind, the door swung open.

Gu Nian tensed like a cat with its fur standing on end, her entire body on edge, ready to react at a moment's notice. Even though the window behind her was sealed shut, Gu Nian still pressed close against it.

She stepped back cautiously, as if ready to jump out the window at any moment.

This subconscious self-defense action arose despite knowing she couldn't actually jump out.

Gu Nian stared warily at the newcomer.

He appeared to be middle-aged, roughly the same age as Gu Licheng. His hair was dyed jet black, with streaks of original gray at his temples.

Deep wrinkles framed his eyes, even when he didn't frown, leaving distinct lines at his brow, indicating a habitually furrowed brow.

From his nostrils to the corners of his mouth, two deep laugh lines extended, seemingly etched into his skin.

Yet none of these physical features left as strong an impression as his eyes.

Despite his age, they remained sharp and cold, unnervingly intense and chilling, like those of a predatory snake.

Under his gaze, Gu Nian shivered involuntarily, a nauseating feeling spreading through her.

Behind him stood four black-clad bodyguards—two black and two white, exceptionally tall.

"Who are you?" Gu Nian asked, guarded.

"No need to hide. Where else can you hide?" the middle-aged man taunted.

"Why did you bring me here?" Gu Nian demanded. "Who are you? You've captured me, I can't escape, but at least let me know why!"

The man chuckled dismissively. "No harm in you knowing. After all, three years ago, you dealt a significant blow to the Organization R. It's only fair you meet their debtor."

Gu Nian widened her eyes suddenly. Was this man before her the leader of the Organization R?

She found it hard to believe that on a honeymoon trip, she would encounter the leader of the Organization R.

"I didn't expect to encounter the leader of the Organization R on my honeymoon," Gu Nian said coldly, testing the waters.

The man didn't deny it, causing Gu Nian's heart to sink. It seemed her guess was correct.

"I am Chi Xingduan," the middle-aged man said.

Gu Nian blurted out, "What's your relationship with Chi Yiheng?"

Chi Xingduan's lips curled upwards slightly, giving off a menacing vibe.

"I am his father," Chi Xingduan said. "More accurately, his adoptive father."

He was brought out of the orphanage twenty-five years ago.

"Why did you bring me here? What do you want to do?" Gu Nian asked. "It's not just simple imprisonment, right? You wouldn't personally capture me for such a simple reason."

Gu Nian's fingers twitched slightly. "Are you planning to use me as leverage? It can't be to threaten Chu Zhaoyang, right?"

If they intended to threaten Chu Zhaoyang, they wouldn't have captured her while he was with her.

"That's correct," Chi Xingduan seemed to appreciate Gu Nian's demeanor, giving her a approving glance. "Mrs. Chu is indeed an extraordinary woman. Three years ago, she was able to inflict considerable damage on our Organization R and even contributed to the 'Thorns' Intelligence Bureau three years later."

When Chi Xingduan mentioned this, Gu Nian's expression visibly changed. She hadn't expected the Organization R to know the true identity of the PSI Detective Agency.
