Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

"Excuse me!!"

"Yes Sir, How may I help--"

"Where's Nanny!!"

"Sir who-"

"Nanny!!!"

"Nanny's not there in her ward , nor are the medical devices , not to mention the bed itself isn't there too. The room is fully empty!!"

"What!!" The receptionist exclaimed.

"Nanny's absence might be due to a sudden ward-shift given the circumstances, but why would the medical devices and the bed itself not be there too!!!" As I was panicking pondering about all these , the receptionist enquired with an urgency.

"Sir , tell me the name of the patient or the ward number she was admitted in , if you do remember it. Things will be quicker then"

Hearing that I tried to recall about my time here in the morning and soon I caught up with the image of the door inside of which grandma was taken to and the number written above was....

"Yes!! I remember. It wa---"

As I was going to finish saying what I must..

THROB

A sudden heavy beat around my chest shook me and soon everything on my sight started to fade slowly. My head felt as heavy as it could get and I was almost on the verge of falling so I immediately tried to get a hold of the desk but all that effort was for naught as-

THUD

The telephone along with that long ass wire fell down on my pull.

"Sir!!"

The receptionist cried out of shock.

"Go and get a glass of water!! Quick!!"

She shouted with a worrisome face, which was all I could hear and see as everything on my sight got blurry. But soon I realised, it was all a sham seeing the uneasy look on her face turn into a wide grin and the words that followed, coming from her, made me stunned to the core.

"Don't forget to add 'that' in it and bring the wipers too. We need to clean these all up quickly. Heheheh..."

Hearing those things followed by that menacing laugh , I could feel the cold sweat flowing down my temple as my vision as well as the little hope inside to recover from this gruesome situation went towards the dark.

I let go of the little portion of the desk I held onto....

"Is this how it all ends?" I mumbled sorely.

During those few mini seconds as I fell, I was in contemplation trying to recall even a least bit of the memories from my one and only awful life as I heard about people having flashbacks of their life while they lie on their deathbeds but nothing came to remembrance as obviously there was no time at all for me to have such leisure. So without any further struggle , I just accepted it all as the dejected words came out.

"Sounds like such a bad ending but none can do . Goodbye , Nan---"

THUD

I hit the floor and the last thing I heard was the running steps of someone who wore high heels as the sound of the footsteps were intense.

*********

Someone would definitely go through immense pain after falling down onto a hard surface with the head hitting first but I couldn't perceive any kind of pain at all. I assumed that all my brain nerves stopped functioning as it just felt like a tender whack at the back of my head followed by having the same feeling all over and there I was finally lying down flat on my back.

It was black all around and I could feel all my senses getting ceased because the tiles beneath couldn't be felt anymore as I went on venturing deep into nothingness....

But soon-

TICK TICK TICK TICK

I opened my eyes.

Looking at the ceiling, I could see the fan swinging slowly as my conscious made it back to me slowly too and finally , forcing myself to sit, I pulled off the blanket. Being totally worn out soaking wet with sweat , I was breathing roughly almost gasping for some air .

Immediately turning my head to the right , I looked over the cupboard , straight at the source of the 'tick tick' sound. The little ray of moonlight coming through the window was the only source of light inside this dimly-lit room so the clock was barely visible but I caught a glimpse of the hour hand where it was close to 3.

"It's just 3" I quievered.

Grasping the fact that it wasn't morning yet , not even dawn and that I have to close my eyes again in order to spend the rest of the night sent chills down my spine as obviously my paranoid self doesn't wanna experience disaster like that just after I went through something similar moments ago (in a single day).

Without further ado, I got down from the bed only to stand in front of the mirror to have a good look at my pitiful self.

"Another bad dream and this time , grandma was there too!!"

"GOD!! I don't like this"

Having one or two of these nightmares is alright but just thinking about how ridiculously persistent all of these has been just makes me more frustrated given how a person can't have control over something that occurs in the visualisations he has, in an unconscious state.

It's frustrating, taking the fact into consideration that 'Sleeping' , considered as a luxury to others is something I detest the most right now.

I still regret being so peculiar about everything happening on that particular day..
