Chapter 125 - Exam P.4

He wasn't wrong; it wasn't enough.

During the few seconds, the duo had entered one of the faux buildings; while obviously not a real building, they did possess floors, and while the idea of entering the building was available...it'd be equivalent to suicide and killing his advantage.

His advantage was not close combat; close combat just wasn't a severe weakness of his.

Cementoss remained motionless.

The weighted restraints around his limbs were mildly inconvenient, but not enough to matter.

This was still his battlefield.

His city.

His material.

His advantage.

From his elevated position atop the layered fortress, he scanned the ruined streets below.

Nothing.

No movement.

No attacks.

No attempts to flee.

Only silence.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

He still possessed ordinary human senses. These walls did not grant omniscience.

But he knew one thing for certain:

Kurokami Tenshin and Eijiro Kirishima had not escaped.

That much was impossible.

The battlefield was designed specifically to deny exactly that.

Though portions of the city used brick, steel, plaster, and decorative materials—

The overwhelming majority remained concrete.

Meaning—

They were surrounded.

Every route.

Every building.

Every street.

Every hiding place.

Under his control.

The logical move was patience.

Entering unknown terrain against two close-range power types would only create unnecessary risk.

So he waited.

And waited.

And waited.

Back in the observation room—

Confusion slowly spread.

1 minute.

No activity.

2 minutes.

Still nothing.

Even Denki looked confused.

"What are those guys doing?"

Jirou leaned forward.

"…Camping?"

Mina immediately objected.

"No way! That doesn't fit either of them."

Nearby, All Might looked thoughtfully at the monitors.

"Hm…"

He leaned toward Aizawa.

"Aizawa, is there a way to see inside the structures?"

Aizawa looked unimpressed.

"We have drones."

All Might brightened.

"Excellent!"

Aizawa looked at him.

"…Not using them."

All Might blinked.

"…Why?"

Aizawa stared at the screen.

"These exams have people who freeze cities, explode buildings, create cannons, and apparently produce whatever Kuro's doing."

Pause.

"The drones come out of my budget."

All Might immediately nodded.

"That is understandable...wait, so we pay for this personall-"

Back on the field—

Cementoss remained perfectly still.

But unlike the spectators—

He knew.

They weren't waiting.

He could hear it.

Very faint.

At first—

just shifting air.

Then—

pressure.

Movement.

Rhythm.

Repeated.

Getting faster.

His eyes moved.

Still nothing visible.

Yet—

The sound was increasing.

Like something rotating.

Faster.

Faster.

Faster.

His posture shifted.

Concrete moved.

Additional walls.

Layered defense.

Secondary supports.

Reinforced platforms.

Elevated angles.

A complete defensive formation.

"…Very well."

His voice echoed quietly.

"Show me."

Concrete thickened.

"What the strongest first-year students can do."

The sound became unbearable.

Like a turbine.

Then—

silence.

Cementoss's eyes widened.

Too quiet—

BOOOOOOOOOOM.

His entire fortress exploded inward.

Not from destruction—

from penetration.

Wall one—

gone.

Wall two—

gone.

Wall three—

obliterated.

The attack didn't slow.

Concrete shattered.

Layers collapsed.

The entire castle folded into itself.

Cementoss barely turned—

and saw it.

Red.

Spinning.

Rapid.

No—

not spinning—

being spun.

Kurokami.

His body rotated violently.

Feet dug into ruined concrete.

Purple energy wrapped around him.

One arm extended—

holding—

Kirishima.

By the legs.

Spinning him.

Like a sling.

Like a missile.

Like an extremely unsafe engineering project.

Kirishima's body had gone fully hardened.

Arms crossed.

Head tucked.

Eyes squeezed shut.

His expression looked somewhere between absolute determination and immediate regret.

Inside his mind—

Only one thought remained:

Don't move.

Don't throw up.

Don't move.

Don't throw up.

Kuro yelled.

"SPECIAL MOVE—"

Kirishima opened one eye.

"…WE NAMED THIS?!"

Kuro grinned.

"MEGA—"

Another rotation.

"ROCK—"

FASTER.

"DRILL—"

Kirishima immediately screamed—

"WAIT WE DIDN'T DISCUSS THAAAAAAAT—"

Kuro released.

"…SHOT!!!"

Kirishima became a projectile.

Cementoss moved instantly.

Seven walls.

Destroyed.

Ten.

Destroyed.

Fifteen.

Destroyed.

Not pierced—

obliterated.

The force is transferred through every layer.

Concrete exploded around him.

His footing vanished.

His fortress collapsed.

Cementoss barely crossed his arms—

and—

CRASH.

Kirishima hit him directly.

The impact launched Cementoss backward through his own structure.

The entire top layer detonated.

Concrete rained downward.

Kirishima bounced.

Hit another wall.

Crashed through.

Rolled.

Finally stopped.

Face-first.

Silence.

Then—

a weak thumbs-up.

"…Still alive…"

Back in observation—

dead silence.

Aizawa stared.

All Might blinked, just looked at the rest of the class to make sure they all saw that.

Mina slowly raised her hand and spoke, the sound gratefully louder than Midoriya's pen.

"…Did they just invent human artillery?"

Bakugo had the 'Write that down, write that down!' face as he compared just how much deadlier Howitzer Impact could be if he added horizontal and vertical spin. Todoroki would have been surprised...if he was using the silence to frantically finish eating.

Kuro landed nearby.

Proud.

Hands on hips.

"See?"

Nobody had asked.

Kuro pointed.

"Strategy."

Cementoss slowly stood.

Covered in dust.

His castle—

gone.

He stared at the two, feeling a mild resentment...he worked quite hard on that castle, granted it was as decorated as he could have made it, but still.

Then quietly adjusted his restraints, by 'adjust' he meant rubbing the heavy weights.

"…I understand now."

Concrete began moving again.

"…You two truly did not listen to a word I said."

Kirishima stood.

Still dizzy.

"…Nah."

Kuro nodded.

"We already knew."

The two crouched again.

Cementoss suddenly realized they weren't tired, and the quick improvisation of that attack was a bonus; had they decided to simply charge at him, he would have methodically worn them down.

And his eyes narrowed, this exam might take longer than expected.

...

His eyes moved toward the pair.

Kirishima looked less like a hero and more like someone who had just discovered several new dimensions of motion sickness.

Kuro, meanwhile—

looked perfectly fine.

Cementoss quietly filed that information away.

That alone was concerning.

"…I admit it."

His deep voice echoed through the damaged battlefield.

"You showed the same reckless, passionate brute force he did."

Back in the observation room—

All Might laughed awkwardly.

"Haha… I wonder who that reminds him of…"

Nobody answered.

Aizawa gave him a flat stare.

All Might coughed.

"…Purely hypothetical."

Back below—

Cementoss continued.

"But what now?"

His hands lifted.

Broken sections of the battlefield slowly reassembled.

"In an actual encounter, destroying my defenses means little if I remain operational."

The concrete shifted.

Stabilized.

Expanded.

"If this were reality, your opening attack would be the ideal moment to suppress me before I adapted."

Kuro wasn't listening.

He patted Kirishima's back.

"Good job."

Kirishima raised a shaky thumb.

Then immediately lowered it.

"…I think my stomach stayed behind."

Cementoss stared.

No follow-up?

No attempt to capitalize?

Just casual conversation?

His eyes narrowed.

Very well.

If they wouldn't advance—

He would force them.

Three seconds.

That was all the warning.

The city moved.

Buildings unfolded.

Roads split.

Concrete pillars erupted upward in synchronized timing.

Not random.

Calculated.

Angles.

Blind spots.

Kill zones without killing power.

A teacher's attack.

Designed to overwhelm.

The ground became hostile.

The sky disappeared beneath rising stone.

Kuro turned.

And for a brief second—

something changed.

The loud, explosive energy around him vanished.

Usually—

His quirk felt obvious.

Bright.

Excited.

Like a bonfire.

But now—

The purple aura quietly faded.

White.

Thin.

Contained.

Not stronger.

Sharper.

Like still water.

The concrete came.

Kuro moved.

One step.

A pillar missed.

Pivot.

Another passed.

Duck.

Three more collided behind him.

He moved smoothly.

No explosions.

No dramatic movement.

Just—

calm.

His eyes tracked every angle.

His breathing slowed.

Cementoss noticed immediately.

"…Interesting."

Kurokami Tenshin is a student at U.A. He possesses the quirk 'Ki', which is an energy-based ability that allows him to project and enhance himself using said energy. It abides by the laws of quirk usage and has high growth potential. That quirk is basic information about him and was noticeable at birth, along with a few other inhuman features, such as his tail. Originally a very basic white colour, as he grew, it took on a bolder and bolder purple.

Eventually being the proud violet of today, that being said, when going back to his roots and fusing every other form he made, he returns to that state of simple being. Ultimately, 'Ki' is as mysterious as every quirk yet still very understandable, of course, that'd be if you remove the unstable factor of its newest user.

That same unstable, of course, wasn't satisfied with the massive power draining aspect of his quirk, so came that white Ki, being a show of how WE SAIYANS HAVE NO LIMITS.

That is Potential Unleashed.

Below—

Kuro picked up Kirishima.

Effortlessly.

"Hey."

Kirishima looked up weakly.

Kuro smiled.

"Ready to actually pass?"

Kirishima slowly raised one finger.

"…Need…"

Pause.

"…minute…"

Kuro nodded seriously.

"Got it."

Then—

He started running.

Not toward Cementoss.

Away.

Cementoss raised an eyebrow.

Retreat?

No.

Movement pattern analysis.

Kuro zig-zagged unpredictably.

Not avoiding.

Testing.

Each pillar.

Each wall.

Each angle.

Watching.

Learning.

His white aura flickered.

Cementoss realized.

He wasn't escaping.

He was reading.

Kuro suddenly stopped.

Looked around.

Then looked upward.

Then at Kirishima.

Then at Cementoss.

Then—

smiled.

Cementoss immediately disliked that expression.

Kuro pointed.

"Kirishima."

"…Yeah?"

"You know what I noticed?"

Kirishima groaned.

"What?"

Kuro pointed upward.

"He stopped making castles."

Cementoss paused.

Kuro continued.

"You're making cages now."

Silence.

Cementoss' eyes sharpened.

Kuro smiled wider.

"And cages…"

He crouched.

White aura gathering at his feet.

"…mean you're worried we'll get close."

Kirishima blinked.

Then his eyes widened.

His dizziness immediately became secondary.

He looked around.

He realized.

The walls weren't reinforcing anymore.

They were narrowing.

Controlling movement.

Containing.

Limiting approach angles.

Cementoss had stopped thinking defensively—

and started thinking reactively.

Kirishima grinned.

His hardened skin slowly returned.

His breathing steadied.

"…Heh."

He stood.

Cracked his neck.

"That means our dumb plan worked."

Cementoss calmly raised another dozen walls.

"…Your confidence is admirable."

Kuro rolled his shoulders.

The white aura quietly outlined him.

Then he looked at Kirishima.

No hand signs.

No explanation.

Just—

"You wanna try the second one?"

Kirishima stared.

"…There's a SECOND one?!"

Kuro nodded.

"Yeah, I really liked the first one, but y'know, good things shouldn't only be done once."

Beat.

"…I made it up while running."

Observation room—

Aizawa closed his eyes.

"…Of course he did."
