Mathew's gaze landed on the crumpled documents on the ground, as if he finally understood something. With a hint of a bitter smile in his eyes, he softly said, "Okay."
Riley looked up at him somewhat surprised, seemingly taken aback by his calmness.
But she recalled in an instant that his temperament had always been like this. He had always treated her well, as if anything she said, he would agree to unconditionally.
However, the more this was so, the worse she felt inside, feeling particularly bitter.
She thought, if only he would sternly criticize her, question her why, or curse her out, blame her a little, she might feel more at ease.
