Until after entering the ward, Ronald Loman took a blanket from the neighboring bed and covered Annie Taylor, then he looked up to observe the person in the sickbed.

The child was also sleeping lightly with eyes closed, emitting soft breathing sounds. The small face was somewhat flushed, and quite a bit of sweat beaded on the forehead. The slightly dry little mouth made him appear even more tender and looked very adorable, inexplicably giving Ronald a peculiar feeling.
Ronald Loman stood frozen in the original location, seemingly having forgotten how to react, staring unblinkingly at the child on the sickbed, his brain blank.
