As the door closed, Jane Sampson could still hear James Black saying in a very soft voice,
"Seems like I left you with too much strength."
Jane Sampson was dumbfounded. What did he mean by that, and why did he look so regretful?
Jane Sampson snorted, and deliberately locked the door. Only then did she shuffle like an old woman towards the bookshelf. Using all her strength, she managed to push the heavy bookshelf away from the wall just a little.
"Why does it feel like when I hid it last time, this bookshelf wasn't this heavy?" Jane Sampson sat on the ground, panting, "Why is it so much harder to move today?"
After resting for a few seconds, she stretched her thin arm into the gap between the bookshelf and the wall, fishing around. After a while, she finally retrieved several very thin envelopes.
She weighed them in her hand, touching them again and again.
Why did they feel thinner somehow?
Was it her imagination?
Jane Sampson shook her head; it must be her imagination.
