Whenever she got sick, whoever took her out would be in trouble, as they would face a scolding from Old Master Black and auntie. Sometimes when her fever wouldn't go away for several days, even Grandpa Sampton and Granny Sampton would get anxious and start scolding.
Jane Sampson thought she really was quite a troublemaker when she was young. However, Peter Gingery and the others inside the great courtyard were truly kind to her. Every time they got scolded because of her illness, none of them held it against her.
When she was sick and couldn't leave the house, they would stay in the house with her, entertain her, and make her happy.
Once she recovered from her illness and they went out to play, she wanted to join them, and they continued to take her along for their wild adventures.
