"When the Young Madam returned, she was in a great mood, even humming a song. She's been like this for days now; I'm not sure if the Young Madam saw that person before." Scott Harris felt a deep guilt with every word he spoke; he genuinely liked Enna Clark and strongly endorsed her. But when he saw Enna chatting happily and having dinner with a young, unfamiliar man that afternoon, his duties as the Housekeeper made it impossible for him to conceal this from Lord Lawrence.
Yet, when he spoke up about what he saw, he felt a sense of betrayal towards Enna Clark.
That feeling was identical to his previous inner conflict over whether to speak up, contemplating not to speak, and the oppressive sense of betrayal towards Lord Lawrence.
"Lord Lawrence, do you want to ask the Young Madam who that man is?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he heard a crisp snap. The pen held by the man had been broken into two pieces, and the sharp end pierced the man's palm, yet he didn't notice.
