Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Each Getting What They Need

The first rays of morning light shone upon the third floor of Sector B at Godolkin University.

Wade rubbed his throbbing temples as he floated all the way into the classroom for his Brand Marketing class.

Last night, Mena had been incredibly excited after injecting the "Guard Bear" superpower potion. The two of them had spent the night researching it; it wasn't just physical labor, but a limit-testing mental competition.

He had always controlled his body's most primal reactions to ensure no complete genetic samples were left behind, but this time, he had almost lost control.

Sitting in his chair, Wade felt his blood manipulation power remain active despite his mental exhaustion, feeling even more adept than before: 'It seems pushing to the limit is a different kind of training.'

"Hey, buddy! Your aura... did you take on a whole nest of alien monsters last night?" A gust of wind passed by as Jade sat in the chair next to him, winking. "Look at those dark circles..."

Wade let out a long yawn and muttered, "Pretty much. It was a particularly difficult one with endless energy."

A class passed by in a daze. The dismissal bell felt like a pardon; he just wanted to collapse on the desk and catch up on sleep.

The whispers of a few girls in the front row reached Wade's ears with precision.

"Big news! The Sisterhood Society got an official invitation from Vought Corporation."

"It's to go to Vought Tower for the official debut ceremony of the new member,'Starlight'!"

"The Seven finally added a female member! As the specially invited support group, our Sisterhood Society is going to get a lot of exposure this time."

"I'm so jealous of Jill and the others. They get to go inside Vought Tower and meet Starlight up close..."

'Starlight? Debut ceremony?' Wade's sleepiness vanished instantly.

The first official public appearance of a new member of The Seven? This was a godsend!

Two plans flashed through his mind. One was to use Mental Control to infiltrate and make contact personally, which carried the highest risk; the other was to use Jill for a hidden, indirect contact via a letter, which was the safest...

This was not only an excellent opportunity to contact and turn Starlight while analyzing her superpower genes, but also a great time for him to dig up various scandals about Vought Corporation.

Those in the same trade are enemies. If he didn't ruin the reputation of Vought Corporation, which monopolized the superhero industry, and strike at its military, political, commercial, and entertainment businesses, his own plan to start a superpower pharmaceutical company would never get off the ground.

Jade was still excitedly discussing the measurements of hot girls with others when Wade nudged him: "Hey, give me your cousin's contact info."

"Take my advice, don't do anything reckless." Jade froze for a moment upon hearing this, a look of terror appearing on his face as he whispered timidly, "Jill's ability is lethal! It's even more ruthless than Homelander's heat vision... If you go looking for trouble with her, you're definitely asking for it."

"What are you thinking?" Wade narrowed his eyes and waved his hand dismissively. "I'm not trying to pick her up; I have serious business to discuss with her."

"The last guy who asked me for her Snapchat said the same thing, and he ended up as ice shards." Jade pulled out his phone and forwarded the contact, shaking his head and sighing, "Just don't do anything stupid."

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing." Wade's fingers tapped quickly on the screen, and a concise invitation message was sent out. 'Might as well make contact and try to get my hands on Jill's freezing ability.'

In the blink of an eye, it was afternoon.

Fourth floor, Dorm 403, where Jill lived.

The temperature in the room was at least ten degrees lower than in the hallway. The curtains were tightly closed, and the computer screen emitted a ghostly blue light.

The petite Jill was curled up in a gaming chair, wearing an oversized black hoodie that made her complexion look extremely pale.

"I heard you were invited to Vought Tower to support the ceremony... Can you help me deliver a letter to Starlight?" Wade sat on the edge of the bed and explained his purpose. "How about one blue crystal as payment?"

Jill brushed back her hair and casually tossed two ice balls: "Just that? You think I'm short on your little jelly beans?"

Wade shattered the incoming objects with a punch. With a thought, Thought Prying spread out silently.

Jill's surface thoughts became active; she just felt it was beneath her... but she still held deeper expectations.

He rubbed his fingertips and directly increased the offer: "What do you want? Just say it, as long as I can afford it."

Jill's emerald pupils flickered back and forth, and she beckoned him over: "I saw your fight with Jordan Li... Agree to one request first."

Wade walked over, and Jill leaned into his ear and whispered softly: "Help me get the ice cream out of the fridge..."

He looked surprised and agreed without a second thought: "It's that simple?"

Jill picked up a steaming cup of water and drank it in one go. Two purplish flushes rose on her pale cheeks as she said dully, "If you have the guts, then take it... The stock in my fridge is all unopened, so you'd better be careful."

"Oh, okay." Wade went to open the refrigerator. Just as he unwrapped a cone, a rustling sound suddenly came from behind him.

Biting the cone, he looked at Jill's body, which was covered in ice crystals, and his eyes widened: "What are you... doing?"

"Shut up!" Jill grabbed his clothes and gave a hard yank; the fabric instantly turned into ice shards.

The temperature in the room plummeted. The cracking sound of ice forming rang out frequently, as the hiss of an ice storm and muffled sounds of collision intertwined.

Wade was like an adventurer exploring a cave, pushing forward with all his might, moving back and forth within the freezing ice cellar Jill had created.

Wade's skin glowed with a dark gold luster to resist the impact of the ice crystals, while the airflow around him surged to disperse the condensing cold. His analysis ability operated at full capacity.

[Blood sample contacted, analyzing superpower gene...]

[Ability: Frost Ice Body (Advanced Variant)]

[Gene sequence recording... 10%]

Surges of bone-chilling energy traveled backward through the blood vessels of his body. Wherever they passed, his blood nearly solidified. His heart began to beat powerfully, providing a continuous flow of heat to guide and dissolve the cold.

As the freezing energy merged into his spine, he sensed the moisture in the surrounding air turning into tentacles extending from his airflow.

Hiss— Bang!

With a slight shift of his thoughts, a layer of cold mist gathered above Wade's head, and the frost mist between the two of them scattered and danced.

[Frost Ice Body (40%) fusion successful!]

[Synergy effect produced with host ability 'Gas Manipulation':]

[Condensation efficiency of water vapor in the air is greatly increased; initial ability to create low-temperature mist achieved.]

Two hours later, when everything returned to calm, the room was a mess, all covered in white, thick frost.

"Whew... is it over?" White steam rose from Wade's body as he twisted his frozen limbs, shaking off a floor's worth of ice crystals.

His gaze swept over the patch of red ice beads on the ground, and he secretly rejoiced: 'Blood samples of the Frost Ice Body... maybe I can increase the analysis progress a bit more.'

With a flick of his finger, a wisp of air swept up all the red beads and tucked them into his pocket.

Jill collapsed in her gaming chair, covering her face. Her body was twitching unconsciously, and a cold mist enveloped her.

"Heh... hah..." A hand reached out tremblingly from the white mist, her breath heavy. "The letter... give it to me. You can wear my clothes for now."

Wade took a palm-sized envelope from his bag and stuffed it into Jill's hand: "Remember to give it to Starlight. Make sure she has a chance to see it alone."

He opened the wardrobe and picked out a large, loose top at random, but it couldn't even cover his navel: 'She doesn't even listen to reason, just starts fighting... She could have at least let me put my clothes away.'

Jill stood up unsteadily, walked behind him, and said in a voice as thin as silk, "Remember, you still owe me... twice..." Suddenly, she collapsed to the ground.

"Hey, are you okay?" Wade quickly turned to check on her. Seeing no life-threatening danger, he breathed a sigh of relief and placed her on the bed. "See you next time."

Jill wrapped herself in the quilt with a peaceful expression and responded vaguely, "Wait for me... to recover, then I'll... find you."

Wade walked out of the room, and the warm air in the corridor quickly washed away the chill on the surface of his body.

Not far away, several dormitory doors were ajar, and several curious gazes peered out.

"Cyclone is really tough... he actually didn't freeze to death!"

Low exclamations came from behind the doors.

"He even changed his clothes. He's the first one who could walk out in one piece, right?"

"Damn, we can't make fun of Jill anymore!"

Another female voice whispered, "Can wind really counter ice? That doesn't make sense."

Wade ignored their gossiping eyes and low discussions. The words in the letter flashed through his mind:

"...There are rumors in the society that The Deep often invites girls to the aquarium for 'night dives,' saying there's some 'private exhibition'... It's weird anyway. Sister Starlight, you must be careful. If you feel something is wrong, go find our most respected Queen Maeve!"

"Please protect yourself and continue to shine. All of us in the Sisterhood Society will be cheering for you from the audience!

PS: The day after tomorrow at 3:00 PM, can we meet under the old oak tree in Central Park? I want your autograph.

— A nobody from the Godolkin USisterhood Society"

Wade flew down the stairs, and frost flowers silently condensed on the walls.

'They say Girls Help Girls, and Queen Maeve isn't a bad person. She wouldn't just watch The Deep use the casting couch on Starlight without stopping it... right?'

The key was whether Starlight would become alert and curious after receiving this letter... It didn't matter if it failed. She would eventually step onto the grounds of Central Park, and then she would be a moth falling into a spider's web.

Regarding the skyscraper that was Vought, Wade didn't mind prying open the first crack starting with Starlight, this brand-new pillar.
