Lucifer wore an expression that clearly said, 'Cecilia Branford, you're humiliating me.' He was her childhood sweetheart; they'd grown up together! How could he possibly not know her nickname? What was this, if not a direct insult?
Lucifer was angry. He snorted arrogantly and turned his face away.
Sophie Sullivan reached out, pulling his arrogant face back. "Lucifer, speak up now!"
On the sofa across, Thomas Shannon's handsome face darkened. Seeing Sophie Sullivan behave so intimately with Lucifer, her affectionate gestures fanned his fury.
Thomas Shannon's displeasure, however, seemed to amuse Lucifer. He looked down at Sophie Sullivan. "Your maternal grandfather and mother both have the surname Sullivan. That year, your grandmother said you should be given a name from Country A. The Hibiscus is the national flower of Country A. Your grandmother hoped you would be liked by everyone, like the Hibiscus, so she named you Sophie Sullivan, with the nickname Fennie."
