Their long, heavy robes, enchanted to obscure their faces in shadow, made them appear like dark phantoms gliding across the battlefield. Compared to them, everyone else was painfully easy to distinguish.
Those who belonged to the Underside wore whatever they had managed to salvage from their lives below the surface. Even after being patched up by helping hands from Pagna and other allies, their clothes were worn, their bodies thin, their features hardened by years of malnourishment and struggle. No enchantments hid their exhaustion or fear.
The attackers hired by the Gizin Guild were the opposite, equipped with gear that was uniform, polished, and professional. They moved with discipline but lacked the eerie presence of Dark Mages.
