"..." There was no response.
Isabella Lindsey wanted to speak, but Ruben Finnegan stopped her.
Because, anyone could see that Sophie Foster wasn't entirely sure if there was anyone inside. From the entrance, it was pitch black. One had to veer left to catch sight of Isabella and the others' shadows.
"Miss Foster, would you like to go down and take a look?" one of her subordinates suggested.
"No."
Sophie Foster slyly remarked, "To guard against deception. I think it's better to release smoke inside. If there are people, they would naturally be choked by the smoke, coughing and suffocating to death."
"That's a good idea!" Her subordinate laughed and complied.
Shortly after, they prepared ten or so smoke canisters, made from the damp and half-dried forest trees and leaves. Once ignited, there were no flames, but thick clouds of choking smoke.
"Throw them inside," Sophie Foster ordered without blinking.
"Wait!"
