Yes, enduring it will make it go away. But have you considered how the person involved feels? Have you tried to empathize?
To you, it's just a story with an unhappy ending, a sad story you listen to and watch.
But inside the person involved, it's heartbreaking. For them, it's not just a story but an incident, a distressing and despairing incident.
Therefore, when we're interacting or dealing with things, we need to carefully consider what can be said and what can't, what can be done and what shouldn't, and never sprinkle salt on someone else's wound.
Not everyone can let go easily, and not everyone can endure it.
