Chapter 123 - Chapter 122: Lydia changes the field

Lydia felt her mental energy and mana drain slightly as she took control of the immediate air around her. The winds seemed to still for a moment.

Lydia, Jordan and Veronica were all moving forward. The fact that Lydia was doing this while she was running was testament to her talent for the mage path. Her eyes shone with a green light as her mana surged.

She connected with the wind molecules pulling them to her will.

'Okay lets do it like this!'

[Air manipulation: Cyclone]

Winds rushed forward from the north, south, east and west, converging like rivers in a storm. They collided with a hurricane force and exploding forth. Dust, rocks and poison were blown away scattered in different directions

For moment the poison that had been in one area seemed to spread outward throughout the entire area.

Jordan's pupils constricted when he saw this.

'Did Lydia make a mistake?' he couldn't help but be worried. The memory of the poison burning in his lungs was still fresh on his mind. It wasn't something he would want to experience ever again.

Jordan opened his mouth and was about to order a stop when the suddenly the wall of poison stopped and then reversed. Almost like someone had hit the rewind button.

The collision of winds created a low pressure void at the center, drawing winds back in a spiralling vortex. Mana amplified the effect making it grow at an abnormal speed and on a much larger scale than possible.

The result was a large suction force that pulled at the surroundings. Scattered poison was pulled inward, vacuuming in into a furious funnel of the tornado

Within seconds, the battlefield was cleared and the Lurker's poison domain shattered.

...

The Lurker was experiencing a throbbing pain in its eyes. First Mayor Bennet and now this child had injured it. Suddenly the Lurker felt a tingle in its soul.

It didn't take long for it to realize what it was.

Soul essence.

It came in from Bennet. So that annoying had died had but his soul essence wasn't good enough to cause a significant change in its status. What it did do however was dull the pain a bit. It could finally think straight.

However before it could even bask in the feeling of being free, a large tornado appeared in the center of its domain sucking up all the poison within its vortex.

HISS!

The Lurker hissed in anger. Why was it that everything seemed to be going so wrong all of the sudden?

It looked toward Huey who was just getting back on his feet. Its eyes blazing with new found hunger.

Huey was in a weakened state right now. If it could manage to get his soul essence and given how pure it was, a breakthrough was guaranteed. And if that wasn't enough, then that boy in the bronze armor would certainly push it to the next level.

With this in mind the Lurker blazed forth. Even after losing a leg and having its movement slightly awkward. It was unbelievably fast.

The ground shattered beneath its weight as it seemed to teleport before Huey. Its mouth was open and it was ready to chomp down on him.

Huey was too slow to react and could only watch as the dark abyss that was the Lurker's mouth filled his entire vision and a pungent stench ripped through his nose.

However before anything could become final. The ground shifted and a magic circle materialized on the ground. A split second later a pillar of earth with a pointed end shot forward.

Pchu!

Green blood fell to the ground in droves.

Everything happened so fast that the Lurker couldn't even react before it was suddenly pierced in the gap between the thorax and the abdomen of the beast.

The Lurker paused giving Huey enough time to dodge to the side.

SKREEE!

The Lurker screeched in pain.

What was that? What just happened? Had it just been stabbed? How? Who?

Before it could think about this issue any further though a lance of flames suddenly shot into its mouth.
