...
They looked at the monsters waiting for them in the ring. They looked at the chaotic, revenge fueled former champions staring holes through them. The Undisputed System was crumbling at the highest levels, but tonight, inside the yellow ropes of NXT, Ziggler and Woods were going to have to face the terrifying reality of their actions completely alone. The referee called for the bell, the three teams locked eyes, and the main event of NXT instantly exploded into absolute, uncontrollable anarchy.
DING! DING! DING!
The main event of NXT was officially underway, and the deafening noise inside the arena reached a fever pitch. As per the rules of this specific triple threat tag team match, one legal member from each of the three distinct teams had to represent their squad in the ring to start the contest.
Stepping forward from the Undisputed System's corner was Dolph Ziggler, clutching his heavily taped neck. From the Wyatt Family's corner, the massive, unkempt Luke Harper stepped over the top rope, his wild eyes entirely fixated on the injured champion. And from the third corner, Seth Rollins practically bounced on his toes, shaking out his arms, his wet hair flying as he stepped into the fray.
The dynamic was instantly apparent. Ziggler, recognizing that he was locked inside a steel cage with two incredibly dangerous, entirely fresh opponents, immediately threw his hands up in a desperate gesture of peace. The Showoff backed away, pressing his spine tightly against the turnbuckles, vigorously shaking his head.
"Look at this coward!" Cole yelled on commentary, completely disgusted by the champion's actions. "The bell just rang, and Dolph Ziggler is already trying to run away! The Undisputed System doesn't look so tough when Sandro Zhang isn't standing on the apron to hold their hands, do they, Josh?"
"Not at all, Michael!" Josh Mathews agreed enthusiastically, leaning over the commentary desk. "Ziggler and Woods are absolutely terrified! They absorbed the wrath of Brock Lesnar on Monday, and now they have to face four of the hungriest, most dangerous challengers in NXT. I don't feel a single ounce of pity for them. They are getting exactly what they deserve!"
Inside the ring, Seth Rollins and Luke Harper slowly turned their heads, locking eyes with one another. Despite their completely clashing styles and their own inherent rivalry, a silent, unspoken agreement was instantly formed between the chaotic architect and the swamp monster. They both looked back at Ziggler.
Ziggler swallowed hard, his eyes darting frantically toward Xavier Woods on the apron, but Woods was busy stretching his own bruised lower back.
Rollins and Harper charged at the exact same time!
Ziggler let out a desperate yelp, diving underneath a massive clothesline attempt from Harper. Ziggler rolled across the canvas, scrambling toward his corner, desperately reaching his hand out to tag his partner.
But before his fingers could even brush Woods' hand, Seth Rollins grabbed Ziggler by the ankle, violently dragging the Showoff right back into the center of the ring.
Harper was waiting. The massive Wyatt Family member grabbed Ziggler by the throat, effortlessly hoisting the injured champion entirely off his feet, and hurled him into the nearest corner. Harper followed in with a thunderous, running body avalanche that completely flattened Ziggler against the pads!
As Ziggler stumbled forward, gasping for air and clutching his taped ribs, Rollins hit the opposite ropes. Rollins accelerated to maximum speed, launching his body through the air to deliver a blistering, high impact slingblade that drove the back of Ziggler's injured neck violently into the canvas!
The crowd erupted into a massive chant of "YES! YES! YES!" as Ziggler rolled entirely out of the ring, completely abandoning the match to save his own skin. He collapsed onto the ringside floor, clutching his neck in absolute agony.
With the Undisputed System temporarily removed from the equation, Rollins and Harper slowly turned back to face each other. The temporary alliance was over. The clinic was about to begin.
Harper struck first, throwing a heavy, looping right hand. Rollins ducked underneath the massive fist, utilizing his elite quickness, and delivered a lightning fast combination of kicks to Harper's thighs, attempting to chop the big man down. Harper simply absorbed the kicks, stepping forward and shoving Rollins backward with two massive hands.
Rollins hit the ropes and charged back, but Harper leaped entirely into the air, executing a flawless, breathtaking dropkick that completely caught Rollins squarely on the jaw!
The sheer agility of the 275 pound monster sent a shockwave through the arena!
"Look at the athleticism of Luke Harper!" Cole shouted in sheer awe. "A man that size has absolutely no business moving that fast! But that is exactly what makes the Wyatt Family so incredibly dangerous!"
Rollins crashed to the mat but immediately rolled backward, popping back up to his feet. He tagged Dean Ambrose. At the exact same moment, Harper backed into his corner and slapped the chest of Erick Rowan.
The two fresh men entered the match, and the energy in the building completely shifted. Ambrose, twitching and pacing with manic intensity, stared up at the absolute mountain of a man wearing the terrifying sheep mask.
Rowan slowly reached up and pulled the mask off his face, tossing it to the ringside floor, revealing his cold, emotionless eyes.
Ambrose didn't hesitate. He launched himself at the giant, throwing a wild, chaotic flurry of rapid fire punches directly to Rowan's face!
Smack! Smack! Smack!
The strikes were unhinged, completely lacking technical grace but overflowing with pure, unadulterated street fighting aggression.
Rowan absorbed the blows, took a step back, and simply swatted Ambrose away like a pesky fly. Ambrose bounced off the ropes, entirely utilizing the momentum to propel himself forward, and launched a running crossbody!
Rowan caught Ambrose entirely in mid air!
The sheer, terrifying power of the Wyatt Family enforcer was put on full display as he transitioned his grip, hoisting Ambrose up, and delivered a devastating, spine shattering fallaway slam that sent the Lunatic Fringe flying entirely across the ring!
"My God, the raw power of Erick Rowan!" Mathews exclaimed. "He just tossed Dean Ambrose like he weighed absolutely nothing!"
Rowan didn't go for a pin. He stalked toward Ambrose, but suddenly, a desperate, limping figure slid into the ring from the outside.
Xavier Woods, having blindly tagged himself in while Rollins was down earlier, tried to capitalize on the chaos. He charged Rowan from behind, attempting a chop block to the giant's knee.
But Woods' lower back, entirely compromised by the three consecutive German suplexes he had suffered from Brock Lesnar on Monday night, gave out on him. The strike was weak, barely registering on Rowan's massive leg.
Rowan slowly turned around, glaring down at the terrified member of the Undisputed System.
Woods desperately threw a superkick, but Rowan simply caught his foot. Rowan let out a guttural grunt, spinning Woods around, and delivered a sickening, short arm clothesline that nearly turned the cruiserweight entirely inside out!
Ambrose, having recovered, saw the opportunity. As Woods crashed to the mat, Ambrose tagged Rollins back into the match. Rowan also tagged Harper.
The frequency of the tags was establishing an incredible, breathtaking pace. All three teams were desperate to keep fresh men in the ring, recognizing that the sheer chaos of a triple threat tag team match required absolute cardiovascular perfection.
Rollins and Harper re entered the fray, and the match officially transitioned into an absolute tag team wrestling clinic.
Harper charged Rollins, looking for a massive big boot, but Rollins slid between Harper's legs. Rollins popped up, tagged Ambrose on the shoulder, and immediately delivered a sharp enzuigiri kick to the back of Harper's head!
As Harper stumbled forward, Ambrose vaulted over the top rope, launching a massive flying clothesline that took the big man completely down!
"The tandem offense of Rollins and Ambrose is absolutely flawless!" Cole cheered, watching the former champions work with perfect synergy. "They know exactly where the other man is at all times! They are a well oiled machine!"
Ambrose grabbed Harper, hauling the big man up, and executed a beautiful, snapping bulldog. Ambrose quickly tagged Rollins back in. Rollins ascended the top turnbuckle with lightning speed. Ambrose held Harper in place with a reverse chinlock.
Rollins leaped into the air, driving his knee directly into the side of Harper's head as Ambrose simultaneously drove the big man's face into the canvas!
It was a breathtaking double team maneuver that had the entire Full Sail crowd on their feet, chanting "THIS IS AWESOME!" at the top of their lungs!
Rollins hooked the leg for the first pinfall attempt of the match.
"One! Two!"
Erick Rowan stepped entirely over the top rope, dropping a massive elbow directly onto the back of Rollins' head to break up the pin!
The referee frantically tried to restore order, yelling at Rowan to get back to his corner. As the official was entirely distracted by the giant, the Undisputed System finally, desperately made their move.
Dolph Ziggler, who had been hiding on the outside, suddenly popped up onto the ring apron. As Rollins backed away from Rowan, Ziggler grabbed the top rope and violently pulled it down! Rollins, running backward, flipped completely over the cable, crashing violently onto the unforgiving ringside floor!
"Despicable!" Mathews shouted, slamming his fist on the desk. "Ziggler with the cheapest shot in the book! The Undisputed System realizes they can't hang with these teams in a fair fight, so they are resorting to their usual, cowardly tactics!"
"That's how they've held onto those titles for so long, Josh!" Cole added, entirely frustrated. "They isolate, they cheat, and they capitalize on the damage caused by others!"
Ziggler quickly slid into the ring, officially becoming the legal man for his team. He looked at Luke Harper, who was slowly pushing himself up to his hands and knees.
Ziggler didn't try to out wrestle the big man. He immediately targeted the knee. Ziggler delivered a vicious, low dropkick directly to the side of Harper's kneecap, causing the Wyatt Family member to collapse with a loud grunt of pain. Ziggler scrambled to his corner, rapidly tagging Xavier Woods.
Woods limped into the ring, his face twisted in pain, but his desperation driving him forward. Woods grabbed Harper's injured leg, wrapping it around the middle rope, and aggressively drove his body weight down, utilizing the entire referee's five count to inflict maximum damage.
"One! Two! Three! Four!" the official warned, aggressively counting the illegal submission.
Woods released the hold at the absolute last second, raising his hands in mock innocence. He quickly tagged Ziggler back in. The Undisputed System had successfully cut the ring entirely in half, isolating the massive Luke Harper in their corner and utilizing quick, frequent tags to keep the pressure on.
Ziggler entered, executing a beautiful, leaping elbow drop directly across Harper's chest. Ziggler went for the cover.
"One! Two!"
Harper aggressively kicked out, shoving Ziggler completely off him.
Ziggler, frustrated and clutching his own injured neck, scrambled to his feet. He tagged Woods again. The two members of the Undisputed System hauled the massive Harper up to his feet. Ziggler hooked Harper's head, setting up for a neckbreaker, while Woods climbed to the middle turnbuckle.
In a display of impressive, albeit desperate, double-team synergy, Woods leaped off the ropes, driving his boots into Harper's back at the exact same moment Ziggler executed a snapping neckbreaker!
The assisted neckbreaker completely laid Harper out!
"You have to admit," Cole noted grudgingly, "when they aren't complaining or hiding behind Sandro Zhang, Ziggler and Woods are an incredibly effective tag team. That double-team maneuver was flawlessly executed."
"I don't have to admit anything, Michael," Mathews retorted sharply. "They are only in control because Ziggler pulled the top rope down on Rollins! They are opportunistic scavengers!"
Woods covered Harper, hooking the massive leg.
"One! Two!"
Suddenly, a massive, heavy boot crashed directly into the side of Woods' face!
Erick Rowan had seen enough. The terrifying giant had stepped into the ring and completely decapitated Woods with a brutal kick, saving his tag team partner.
The match instantly dissolved back into absolute, unmitigated anarchy.
Dean Ambrose, having recovered on the outside, slid into the ring and immediately launched himself entirely at Erick Rowan!
The Lunatic Fringe threw rapid, wild punches, backing the giant into the corner. Rollins, recovering from his fall, sprinted up the steel steps, springboarded off the top rope, and delivered a devastating flying knee directly to the side of Ziggler's head!
The crowd was completely unglued! All three teams were actively brawling in the squared circle, entirely ignoring the referee's frantic commands.
Harper, recovering from the double team maneuver, pushed himself up. He looked at Rollins, who had just taken out Ziggler. Harper let out a primal scream and charged, delivering a catastrophic, spinning discus clothesline that nearly tore Rollins' head clean off his shoulders!
Rollins did a full backflip from the sheer velocity of the strike, crashing to the mat in a heap!
"Discus clothesline from Harper!" Cole shrieked! "He just absolutely flattened Seth Rollins!"
Ambrose saw his partner go down. He completely abandoned his assault on Rowan, rebounding entirely off the ropes with his signature, unhinged momentum, and launched a massive pendulum lariat that caught Harper squarely on the jaw!
Harper staggered, falling backward through the middle ropes and tumbling to the ringside floor!
Rowan charged Ambrose, looking for a massive chokeslam. He wrapped his thick fingers around Ambrose's throat, lifting the Lunatic Fringe into the air.
But Ziggler, ever the opportunist, suddenly recovered. As Rowan lifted Ambrose, Ziggler launched himself into the air, delivering a beautiful, snapping superkick directly to the side of Rowan's face!
The impact forced Rowan to drop Ambrose, who landed safely on his feet.
Ambrose didn't say thank you. He immediately grabbed Ziggler, hooked his arms, and spiked the injured champion head first into the canvas with a devastating double underhook DDT!
The arena was shaking with the sheer volume of the cheers. The action was incredibly fast, entirely unrelenting, and the clinic was completely living up to its billing.
Ambrose stumbled backward, entirely exhausted, looking for his corner to make a tag. But Rollins was still unconscious from the discus clothesline, laying motionless on the mat.
Woods, clutching his injured lower back, saw the opening. He slowly, agonizingly climbed to the top turnbuckle, looking to deliver his signature, high risk elbow drop to the exposed chest of Dean Ambrose.
But Luke Harper had recovered on the outside. The massive Wyatt Family enforcer slid back into the ring, entirely bypassing the legal man rules, and charged the corner. Harper delivered a brutal, heavy right hand to Woods' jaw, entirely stunning the cruiserweight on the top rope.
Harper climbed up to the middle turnbuckle, wrapping his massive arms around Woods' waist, looking to execute a devastating superplex!
But the chaotic nature of the triple threat match reared its head once again. Seth Rollins, entirely running on pure, unadulterated adrenaline, shook off the effects of the discus clothesline. He sprinted toward the corner, slipping his head entirely underneath the legs of the massive Luke Harper!
