Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 - I'm here for you

Jua just sat there, staring at the closed door with an unknown look in his eyes.

'Jua Hasin… what have you gone through…?'

The thought lingered heavily in his mind. It seemed that his new body carried far more secrets than he had ever expected. Secrets buried so deeply that even he had not been prepared for what he would uncover.

Closing his eyes, he quickly scanned through the new memory he had received.

Jua Hasin was tied to the bed, his entire face wet with tears. His body trembled helplessly as he looked up at Ying Di. There was fear in his eyes, a kind of desperate pleading that seemed to go unanswered.

The man did not seem to pity him at all.

Ying Di merely whispered something that Jua could not hear before casually putting out his cigarette on his forearm.

Jua instantly opened his eyes, panting softly.

Unbeknownst to him, his body had reacted to the traumatic memory it had experienced. His heart rate had increased rapidly, and his skin had been left clammy with cold sweat.

Panting softly, he pulled his hospital gown up and looked down at his arm.

There, on his bicep, was a circular mark.

His fingers slowly brushed over it, almost instinctively.

'This must be where he bruised Hasin…'

His expression darkened.

There was no need for anyone to explain it to him. The memory and the mark told him enough.

Yet there was still more.

Jua once again closed his eyes, reaching deeper into the memories that had been bound within his mind.

This time, he found himself kneeling in front of the mansion.

It was raining heavily.

The rain poured down relentlessly, soaking everything in sight. In the middle of it all, Jua Hasin, who was still just a young boy at the time, could be seen kneeling on the ground and sobbing.

His small body trembled with each breath.

"I'm sorry… I'm sorry…"

The words came out between his trembling breaths, repeated again and again as though apologizing was the only thing he knew how to do.

And from one of the higher floors of the mansion, Ying Di stood looking down at him.

There was a bright smile on his face.

Jua opened his eyes and took a deep breath.

"That Ying Di really is a monster of a man…"

His cold, narrowed eyes slowly fell toward his knees.

Even now, he could feel a residual pain lingering in that spot, as though his body itself remembered what had happened there.

His fingers curled slightly.

"He really deserves death…"

These were only two memories that Hasin had revealed to him.

Only two.

Jua did not know what other kinds of monstrous torture that man had inflicted upon the young Jua Hasin. He did not know how much pain this body had endured, nor how many memories had been buried so deeply that even Hasin himself could no longer bring them to the surface.

What mattered was that he was here now.

'I'm here, Hasin. I will protect you.'

He did not even know whether Hasin was still somewhere inside this body, quietly watching everything that was happening.

He did not know whether his soul was still there, listening to his words.

But he still wanted to say them.

'Remember this. I will make him pay for everything he did to you.'

His hand slowly tightened into a fist.

'I will…'

He made a promise.
