If it were before, she would have been moved, thinking Arthur Baker was waiting for her.
But now, she can no longer deceive herself.
Aurelia Wood sat down, facing him, and took a deep breath before raising her eyes to look at him, striving to keep her voice calm, "Let's divorce."
Arthur Baker frowned upon hearing this, even thinking he had misheard, "Aurelia?"
"I thought about it all night and can no longer deceive myself. Before, I believed you did all this to give me a beautiful environment to live in. But actually? You just wanted to avoid me, didn't you? Last night, I finally realized that it was all self-deception. Let's divorce. I should pose no threat to you now, and I have no more value to exploit, so there's no need for us to continue being together."
Arthur Baker stared at her tear-filled eyes, her choked appearance, as if a hard punch had landed on his heart.
Guilt surged up, but regret was futile.
