Chapter Nine
"What's wrong with you? You're speaking so hesitantly, has something happened?" Arthur asked suspiciously. His intuition told him that something must have happened to Aurelia last night and she was hiding it from him.
"Where did you go last night? Your phone was unreachable."
"Huh?" Aurelia Wood froze for a moment. When she met his suspicious eyes, she feared he would see through her guilty conscience. She quickly averted his gaze and said anxiously, "I... I, I went to Sofia Hamilton's place, the phone... it was out of battery, so..."
Her heart was beating fast, even though she really wanted to pretend to be calm, her panicked expression had already betrayed her.
Her answer made Arthur's heart sink suddenly.
If he didn't remember wrong, he had asked Sofia Hamilton last night...
Sofia Hamilton said Aurelia was not at her place.
This meant Aurelia was lying to him.
But why would she lie?
