The guard patted her shoulder. "Don't worry, you've got a visitor."
At that, a hint of confusion flickered in Anabel Wilton's eyes. Ever since she had been imprisoned, apart from her mother's brief visit soon after, no one else had ever come to see her.
"Who is it?"
"You'll find out when you get there, won't you?" The guard took out handcuffs, fastened them around Anabel's wrists, and then gave her an impatient pat on the shoulder. "Quickly now, don't waste time."
Anabel Wilton quickened her pace, following the guard out of the workroom and into the Reception Room.
Through the glass, she saw Vera Wave, and her pupils contracted slightly.
On the other side, when Vera saw her approach, she immediately picked up the phone hanging on the wall and gestured for Anabel to do the same.
Anabel picked up the receiver and held it to her ear.
"How have you been lately?" Vera asked from the other side of the glass wall.
