Bai Shan put down the curtain and said to Manbao, who was yawning, "Now you can relax, right? Get some sleep, and I'll wake you when we arrive."
Manbao pulled out a soft pillow from the cart's belly and said, "Then I'll nap for a while. Remember to wake me."
Bai Shan nodded, watching her lean against the lowered wooden table with the soft pillow and fall asleep. The carriage swayed gently. It might have been uncomfortable at first, but at a slow speed, it wasn't jarring—instead, the gentle swaying was quite conducive to sleep.
Manbao soon fell asleep.
When she was awakened, they had already arrived at the inn.
The inn stood alone in a grove by the official road. Nearby wasteland bore traces of carriages and horses, flattened to accommodate parking.
The stable was outside, where a random patch was enclosed with wooden fences, sparsely covered with thatched grass, serving as the stable.
