"And I'm here to find out if it's true."
His voice sounded like what Audrey imagined a snake's whisper would sound like. She felt a thrill run all over her body.
What did he mean by he was here to find out?
With the small flame still burning in his hand, he used his other hand to trail her face with a finger. His hand stopping directly on her chin and lifting it, so that she could look directly at him.
"Didn't you say you wanted to be the crown princess?"
Audrey swallowed.
She wanted to tell him that was a stale dream, but he seemed to have no intention on waiting in her answer.
"I can still make that dream come true."
This time, she didn't bother to hide her gaze from him. She glared at him. Her eyes burning with anger, just the way it used to whenever a maid destroy any of her previous belongings.
And she didn't mind that she directed it at the crown prince.
Through clenched teeth, she responded. "No. I'm no longer interested in..."
